I just “liked” every post in this thread and I didn’t have to confirm any of the “likes.”

I was getting that "confirm" screen repeatedly yesterday (same day you posted), but then it stopped. My only guess (and it may be completely wrong) is that things were running a bit slow, it was taking a long time to finsh loading the thread I was on, and I may have clicked on "Like" before loading was complete. Might be something completely different causing it, but it was definitely happening...
just clicked on the 'like' for the post above, first time I've ever done it, and there was NO confirmation window... it just instantly showed the thumbs up by me and Watertender.....

I'd like a thumbs down button too. Every now and then there are posts I don't like, but don't want to get involved in an argument over the internet either. Just would like to show my disapproval for their words.
Then use this one: 
Logically, it should list them nonlikes as it does them likes.
Most videos you watch have a thumbs up/thumbs down option. I have wondered about this myself.

YouTube, for one, eliminated the thumbs down emoji several years ago. FWIW: FB reels don't have a thumbs down emoji, either.
Yootoob still has thumbdup/down, over a broad range of random, but if any dont have up/down i missed them.

Theoretically we're both right, in a way LOL YT still has the thumbs down button, but it doesn't work.
As i see it, it works just like the streetcrossing button; push that dosent get you instant light change, but it does notice your request. Pushing it ten er a hunnert more times, it dont notice.
It notices your request. It just doesn't care LOL
