I don't believe Hank Williams has been on the AM radio in the last 10 years. Perhaps a song of Hank Williams JR may have played on the AM radio within the last ten years?
But country and western faded with Marty Robbins. JMHO YMMV.

I think the problem is with corporate radio. Lots of great music being made but corporate radio won’t play it. So it doesn’t chart, so it doesn’t sell, so producers won’t back it.
Back in the 90's my apprentice was in a rock band. I went to see them when they played out at a club a couple of times. They had a really good sound. A guy from a record company took them into the studio, recorded a demo, analyzed their music, etc. Then he informed them that at that time they weren't signing anything but alternative music. For the most part the record companies/radio exec.'s control what gets out.
Social media has given us a way to hear people that don't get exposure from the traditional corporate radio, record company system though.

Some truly great old Country
Back in the 80's I worked with a guy that was furious at George Jones. He went to see George in concert. He said George Jones was late. Then when he got there, he came out, sang one song, fell off the stage, and the show was over.

Satellite radio gives a lot more options.
Also lots of different streaming options(Amazon music, apple music, spotify, etc) so you can pick what you want to hear.
I have not listened to AM/FM radio in years except for the occasional scan just out of curiosity, or Christmas. We do have one radio station left that plays Christmas music from Thanksgiving to New Years.

This is the reason that everything I listen to comes off my phone. My playlists include classic rock, Southern rock, and almost no country music newer than 1990. I’m an individual song lover, not a group, artist, or band follower. There are very few artists/groups that I like almost everything they do. There are exceptions, but I can think of only a few.
“Country” music nowadays is predicated on looks or personality IMO, not talent. In the 50s or 60s you actually had to have a singing voice most of the time. I don’t think that’s true today.

Most Country Music has been crap for 40 years. Practically nothing on the radio is worth listening to. As a matter of fact every time I acquire a vehicle the first thing I do is unscrew the antenna and store it in the garage until I sell the vehicle.

Don't listen to much country any more...lately it's been classical, blues and some jazz. The older I get, the more I learn and appreciate.

Too much of what's current (and not just in the "country" vein) strikes me as prefab. Like using the same 8-10 Lego pieces over and over to shuffle and re-assemble consumable commercial product.
Used to love driving thru salt lake city, but KSOP am went off the air year before last. Their ledoux-of-the-day was a hard feature to catch at random. They even played bob wills, riders in the sky, sons of the pioners, and all 5 hanks.

Then there was Bill Mack and the all night trucking show on WBAP.
We have Sirius XM radio and in the car or truck it's about 90 % of the time on "Willie's Roadhouse". Wille, Waylon, Johnny, Kris, Merle George, Hank plus Jr and so on, you get the drift.
