I remember the country going nuts for the bicentennial. I thought patriotism would be off the chats for 250. So far it's not though?
we were allowed to start growing beards 30 days prior but had to shave them within 2 weeks after..... now today even I'm not sure what a good guy looks vs a bad guy, in too many cases the bad guys actually look better . . . . . 🫣

You mean like the Somalis, Haitians or the Chinese women that fly here to give birth to anchor babies?
America is great because we have something called "western civilization".
The issue is that "we" have allowed people to come here that will not assimilate to western culture. There are groups that come here to take advantage of American generosity and compassion.
These same groups hate America, hate western civilization, and want to change the American way of life.
You want to see something amazing, check out how much money flows out of the United States through "remittances" to other countries.
These are immigrants that make money here, but send it to their "mother country"
Research how many dollars are sent back to central and south America, and the Philippines.
These remittances actually are the major contributors to these nations GDP.
The wealth is leaving the USA and not being reinvested.

The 'outsiders' have taken over. 'American heritage' is falling by the wayside. The illegal invaders are mostly looking for the stereotypical 'free lunch' that the USA offers. Like many/most 'Americans', my family immigrated here from Ireland/Scotland almost 300 years ago. Those families worked, invested, and ultimately prospered. We found places not on the uninhabited frontier but in sparsely populated 'Midwest' and built communities with hard work and hope. If anyone doubts this, I'll show you the church my Great Grandfather built FOR THE COMMUNITY in the 1890's.
These illegal invaders are mostly looking for someone to give them something. They don't/won't bear the brunt of fixing their political problems or infrastructure shortcomings. They just want to walk into freedom and handouts. I've personally not found that shrugging shoulders and walking away from problems makes for positive results.

Immigrants used to assimilate and want to become Americans. Too many now don't. Why don't people wake up and see what's happened on the other side of the pond and realize it's happening here now? Our generosity and compassion is being used as a weapon against us. My great, great grandfather immigrated from Germany in 1825. One of the first things he did was to change his name from Otto to Andrew and get his American citizenship document which I still have. He wanted to be an American named Andrew, not a German named Otto just living in America.

Actually that sounds like many of the Americans, born and bred here, that are moving to my town.
Love how Greenville, S.C. is and just want to improve it a little....
and here is what you get:

Welcome to the new South!

Actually South Carolina is one of the fastest growing states in the USA now. Mostly because it's a red state without the disastrous liberal ideology and taxation.

Reasons for Moving to South Carolina

Affordable Cost of Living

  • The cost of living in South Carolina is approximately 6% lower than the national average.
  • Housing is particularly affordable, allowing residents to find larger homes for less compared to states like California and New York.
  • While some areas, like Charleston and Greenville, are experiencing rising costs, the overall affordability remains a significant draw.

Booming Job Market

  • South Carolina's economy is thriving, with numerous job opportunities across various sectors.
  • Key industries include:
    • Technology: Greenville is emerging as a tech hub, attracting startups and established companies.
    • Healthcare: Columbia is expanding rapidly in healthcare jobs, with many new medical facilities.
    • Manufacturing: The state hosts major manufacturers like BMW and Volvo, creating thousands of jobs.

High Quality of Life

  • The state offers a laid-back lifestyle with a pleasant climate, making it appealing for both retirees and young professionals.
  • South Carolina has been recognized for its quality of life, contributing to its popularity as a relocation destination.

Population Growth Trends

  • South Carolina recorded the fastest population growth in the U.S. between July 2024 and July 2025, with a net gain of over 66,000 domestic migrants.
  • This trend reflects the state's increasing attractiveness as a place to live and work, driven by its economic opportunities and lifestyle benefits.

Seems some folks have missed the cardinal rule: "Don't believe everything they tell you."

Affordable Housing:
Most houses are built poorly... they might look good after being made over (flipped) but the framing and wiring is terrible... we won't get into that I have never seen a masonry chimney built to code.
Also, keep in mind the Southeast has the highest residential fire rate of any industrialized country.
"We've always built it that way so it must be okay"

Job Market:
yep, you get paid good to work on the assembly line of BMW or Michiclen.... also, I think we have more lawyers in my town now than engineers.... at least from the bill board and TV adds... Oh and there is a real shortage of food service workers.... we do have a lot of restaurants.... no body cooks at home here.

High Quality of Life:
Oh yeah, weather is great.... stuck around a hundred degrees during the day last week and not much better at night. Just fine as long as you have AC and don't go outside... but then the only folks working out side are the Mexicans who are keeping everything running....ICE hasn't made it to S.C. yet... expect it soon since our legislature failed to re-map the state so that Republicans had a full majority in all voting districts at the request of Trump. They only spent 2 weeks in special session trying to do this. (Can't make this sh#t up)

I suspect you and others are disappointed this did not happen.....seems like I remember back in high school something about some Yankees up in Chicago or somewhere trying to do this... it was called Jerry Mandering or such.

Population Growth:
Yep, follow the lemmings.....S.C. the new Florida.

Forgive me, I'm just a grumpy old fat white man with a broken foot.
