That must be the howitzer edition. I have the 8 3/8" 500 S&W Mag. She is a beast.
This is my largest and smallest revolver.
I like big guns, and I cannot lie, I'm getting old and the recoil is starting to make me cry. :LOL:

I put together a 45 Raptor barrel for my AR10. Thats brutal enough to shoot that I think I would pass on the opportunity to shoot the 460 SW in a pistol. The 45 Raptor is a 460 SW with a reduced rim size for running in the automatics.

I finally after 70 yrs of shooting shot a pistol cartridge in a rifle. Now granted, I am older and more frail and have had shoulder surgeries but I shot a Henry 44m lever rifle a couple of weeks ago. We were shooting a hot 200gr handload that was just fine shooting in my Ruger Alaskan Super Redhawk but shoulder fired it hurt.

The S&W .460's are soft shooters. The gun in question has a 14" barrel with a brake and weighs 5lbs.
 
Once again Taurus taking the lead!!! Maybe a 450 Bushmaster soon? Honestly though the Bushmaster and 460 are pretty much interchangable. Ruger seems to be an empty shell at this point.

When it comes to double / single action revolvers I'm a big fan of S&W ownership outstripping Ruger by something like 15 to one but THAT revolver is something I do not get.

Though I think the idea of a shoulder stock and elongated barrel might be fun... kinda like a modern throwback to the old Colt revolvers with a stock.

Nobody with half a lick of sense. All the African Big Six have been taken with SRH cartridges. A 7.5" SRH .44 is only a few ounces heavier than a 6" 29 but so much more capable. The X-frame in the OP is TWO POUNDS heavier than the SRH. All the X-frames add is weight and range, which most people are incapable of utilizing. They offer zero more capability than the .454.
 
Ruger revolvers were always known to be stronger and bigger than S&W’s.

S&W just wanted to be King of the hill. In doing so, they exceeded practically, and entered the relm of absurdity.

Maybe it’s from my childhood reading about Dick Casull developing the cartridge that bears his name. It just seemed so epic.

The .454 will always be the king in my eyes.
 
I have a SBH .454 and a Toklat. No reason for me to get a bigger one. As I will never even utilize them to their full potential. But if I wanted the biggest for use, plinking or bragging rights I would get a S&W .500 mag. I find many/most people buy gun for wants more then need
