I think the Rossi 62 was a copy of the Winchester 62. You might try that extractor in your son's rifle. Probably require some fitting. WOB

The Sig and Ruger were probably salt bath nitrided like a Glock( Melonite,Tenifer) which gives a very hard and corrosion resistant black finish. Lots of gun companies are using the process. WOB
