Thinking about a Ruger Alaskan 480

Thanks guys I didn't think to look at Buffalo Bore ammo and I haven't even heard of Grizzly. I will check them out. Recoil wise how does the 480 compare to the 454. I have shot a few 454's but have never used a 480.

Thinking about a Ruger Alaskan 480

I'm throwing the idea around of picking up a Ruger Alaskan in 480. I found one used for a good price but my research so far on available ammo hasn't turned up too much. Every website seems to only stock two loads available from hornady. Are these the only two loads available? If ammo ends up...

    alaskan 480 5 shot

I just stumbled upon this old thread when I was researching the 480 ruger. Then a minute later I found one for sale on Gunchoker. It looks like the OP decided to sell it for it's weight in gold like he originally stated a few years ago!! "it probably is the rarest production made gun ever...

    best bipod for a SR556?

The $40 one is the best. It's only a piece of aluminum that holds your rifle up off the ground or shooting bench. Why spend $250?

Ruger 77 200 year American liberty

I'm going to go take another look at the rifle this weekend and make a decision. It doesn't make a difference to me one way or the other about the gun not being cut for Ruger rings. I just thought it a little odd as I have never seen that before. The rifle for sale has been hunted and shows...

Ruger 77 200 year American liberty

Sounds like the liberty doesn't demand anymore money then the standard models.

Ruger 77 200 year American liberty

Thank you for the information. The model I looked at has sights on it. I'll see If I can find any on gun broker in this configuration.

Ruger Guide gun vs Gunsite Scout for hunting?

As stated above you lose your rear peep sight on the Scout rifle if you mount a conventional scope. Unless you buy XS Sights extended rail. Then you keep your sight and can mount a scope either in the forward position or scout style.

Ruger Guide gun vs Gunsite Scout for hunting?

I have the gunsite scout and used it on a bear hunt I went on a couple years ago. The gun was easy to carry and loading and unloading with the detachable magazine was a snap vs a drop down floorplate spilling rounds out. My extra ammo was carried in a separate magazine in case I needed it rather...

Ruger 77 200 year American liberty

A friend has offered to sell me his Ruger for a good price but I was hoping to find some info on it before I decide if I should pick it up or not. It's a tang safety in 30-06 and the barrel is stamped "made in the 200th year of American Liberty" What drew my attention though was the gun had what...

I have a Mossberg 590A1. Please let me speak. Optics?

I use cheap red dots on my slug guns for deer season and they have all held up fine under recoil. And by cheap I mean BSA and Tasco $40 models.
