    P. Harrell: Optimum Barrel Length for 22lr Rifles

I remember the article with the 1" at a time barrel cutting. High-speed .22 ammo maxed out at 16", and slowed in the longer barrels. CCI Stinger (about the only "super" .22 at the time) gained incrementally out to 24". Shorts did best in pistol-length barrels. Similar tests with pistol/carbine...

    Value of a Security Six

There are several dealers on Gunbroker who sell what's left over after a serial-numbered frame is destroyed. You can pick up spare parts pretty cheap. I did that for my Service-Six and P-90.

    Police Service Six

Part of the fun of getting a new (to me) gun is making new grips for it. I've made grips from walnut, pear, cherry, and mulberry.

    Anyone recognize this knife

The styling of the butt would indicate a Near East origin, so Turky might be a good guess.

Old Stiletto Dagger with Bone or Horn Handle and Six-Sided Blade

My guess is a Victorian reproduction; old, but not original to the period of its style. In all the books on arms and armor I have read (and that's quite a few), I have never seen a hexagonal blade. The tale about wounds not closing up from triangular (or hexagonal) blades is BS. That's a very...

Do you routinely carry more than one gun?

A pocket auto on my person, and a Ruger Service-six and reloads in a quickly-accessed safe in my truck, loaded with 158-grain solids. Just in case I end up in a bad scenario on the road and need to shoot through something.

    Redneck mag carrier

I recently sewed a vest with 8 mag pouches for my P-90. I used army green cotton duck, leather, and camo mesh. I'd like to post a photo, but am a "technical troglodite," according to my son.

    Inexpensive, sturdy, and "camouflaged"

I carry the spare mag for my LCP in a Schrade Old Timer pouch. Picked it up at a flea market for a quarter.

    Black Widow for concealed carry

Taurus makes a very compact .380 revolver, with a frame and cylinder just long enough for the cartridge.

    LCP for concealed carry?

Ever since I received my LCP (had to order and wait 9 months), I have carried it in my hip pocket in a thin leather holster I made. No one has ever asked about it. If they did, I'd tell them it was my second wallet for all the %&@# plastic I have to carry. When buying pants, I make sure the...

    Tomorrow's collectibles

Camo guns will certainly be rare, as they will be easily lost.

Why Is The Ruger So Hard To Rack?

Back when stainless guns came out, the recommended lubes were Tri-Flo and Break-Free, both Teflon-based in a dispersant carrier.

    Black Widow for concealed carry

I suggest you familiarize yourself with the anatomy of the human head, so you can hit something vital. It is surprisingly easy to miss the brain.

Considering a Peep Site for my Marlin 336

I have a Skinner sight on my Marlin 39, and replaced the rear sight on my Rossi 92 with a Marble's Target Bullseye. Both work well.

GOEX Black Powder is bought ,and will be back in production

I probably burned as much Goex in rockets as I have in firearms.
