    Non Ruger Rifle Question (UPDATED!)

I think perhaps the original cartridge that "jammed" had a slightly too long OAL. When you tried to extract and the bullet separated from the brass it spilled a LOT of powder in the chamber and I think some of that powder caused the chambering issues that followed. Your second cleaning took any...

No. 1A 7x57 Seeking opinions, advice, & guidence

My #1A in 7X57 wears an older Leupold M8 4X scope and my #1RSI in .270 wears a Leupold 2-7x33. For my eyes, it worth the time & effort to search out a similar such scope in gloss finish for a nice #1. YMMV

    Hawkeye All Weather stock?

I own three Hawkeye all weathers; a .338 Fed, .358 Win and .35 Whelen. As I am not a huge fan of black synthetic handles, I replaced the one on the .338 with a standard walnut Ruger stock and the one on the .358 with a Boyd's pepper laminate. I am leaving the factory synthetic on the Whelen for...

    m77-R .284

With the Vari-X scope on it and the 100 rounds of ammo I had included in the sale it was just under $1400 shipped.

    m77-R .284

FWIW, I just sold a very similar rifle, but a 1987 build M77R (not a flat bolt). Mine was like new, but fired, with original box, paperwork & rings and sold for $1100.

Market Value of 284 Winchester M77R Flat Bolt

FWIW, I just sold a M77R in .284 (1987 production) for over $1,000. It is/was in like new condition, fired and with the original box, rings & paperwork. It is very tough to find a nice M77 in .284.

    M77 MKII 300 saum

I'm sorry that I cannot answer your question. But I do own two rifles chambered in .300 SAUM and it's a great cartridge. If you have purchased or are thinking of purchase, PM me if you want to know where to find some ammo for it as it can be tough to find. FWIW, I now refuse to ever put a source...

    Help me decide an RSI

I have a M77 MKII RSI in .308 and really like it. I'd only comment that you might be disappointed with a Hawkeye RSI, if it had matte finish metal. I know I would(do) way prefer gloss blue on such a rifle. I'd also suggest you expand your search to include the .308. I'm not normally bothered by...

    Round Tops and flat bolts

    Have any .284s??

Preference between M77 and M77 Mk II rifle

Some hunters like the idea of being able to lock the bolt and also to be able to open the bolt with the safety on, thus 2 position vs 3 position. Might not matter a lick to you. If that's the case, I'd simply look at overall condition, condition of the bore and try both rifles' triggers by dry...

    WTB Ruger 77 358 Winchester

I own a SS Hawkeye in .358 as well as SS Hawkeyes in .338 Fed & .35 Whelen. I have seen some SS .35 Whelens online NIB for decent prices. Not sure if that would work for you or not. Don't know if you are going to handload for it or not, but I find it just as easy and same $$ for factory Whelen...

    1-AE Centennial 30-06; Circassian walnut?

Very nice rifle! I've owned a Ruger RSM (30/06) with Circassian walnut (in my avatar), a Browning BAR Safari II GRII with Circassian walnut and a Franchi Deluxe 48AL with Circassian and I'd guess your rifle, nice as it looks, is not Circassian walnut.

    Loading for 7X57 No.1

I've had good luck with the Sellier & Bellot 173gr SPCE load in my red pad #1A in 7X57.
