Universal works great for me.

I weight at least every 10th round on the RCBS 10/10 scales . So far have not had to adjust either RCBS or Lyman powder measure. I do have to make adjustments when using 2400 or 4227, CFR powders.

In my Ruger Vaquero (Talo Edition) 44 mag 3.75" barrel . I am shooting 9.3 gr. of Universal behind a 250 gr. CSWC K. bullet from a RCBS mold. Very easy shooting and accurate to point of aim.

I do about the same thing with 30-40 brass , and 303 british for my 44 magnum . #71/2 shot works great on grouse.

I think you need a new Latch and spring.

CraigC & DougGuy , I agree 100% Also if you don't shoot enough with your ammo that you are going to use, you have no idea whether it works or not. Heavy wide meplat cast hard . 44 magnum or larger loaded to it's max.

My Flat top 44 spl.. And my 44 Vaquero did not have a fired case. Flat top 2015, Vaquero 2016.
