Gave Ruger a call and the really nice lady is shipping me 3 new mags along with a return label for the 3 I am having issues with. I was pleasantly surprised.
Will post a follow up when the mags arrive.
Thanks again for your responses/advice.

The serial # is 380-62xxx. Wonder if it is new old stock. As I said on another post, It is a matter of weak mag springs as I went to the sticky above and it appears from the pics that I have the newer mags.

Thanks for the comment JMO. But...The stretching of the springs was only a temporary move to confirm the springs were weak and they are. The springs will be replaced prior to use of the gun even if I have to buy them from Ruger as I will not put my issues off on others. Gun must be in working...
Well in spite of having a mechanical IQ in the signal digit range....I was able to pull the mag DC....with the help of Rah the kat. :o) Good news is it seems to function.
Now for the next step. Need a decent trigger pull. Not something that feels as if Ruger left a bucket of sand in the...
Thanks for the feedback. I should have seen the sticky.
I think the best thing for me is to sell the Ruger and go back to 1911 or possibly the SAR K2 45ACP. I can detail strip and reassemble the 1911's and am more comfortable with the 1911. These striker fired guns a WAY to complex with lotsa...
Thanks gentlemen. I was a little surprised and disappointed as this is my 1st Ruger semi auto.
If I could ask another question, the trigger is not that great. It is a little rough and to heavy. Is there anything that can be done?
BTW, I usually clean and lube new guns but did not clean the...
I have a new SR45 that seems to be a good pistol but 2 of my 3 mags will not hold slide open if I run the slide all the way back when dry firing. What gives? Have I done something wrong?
BTW, I have not fired the pistol yet. Only dry firing.
Thanks

Thank you for your input gentlemen.
Looks as if my load for the 44 special will be the 7.5 gr of unique and if I need more, I also have a new to me Super Blackhawk w/4 5/8" barrel and a bunch of ammo loaded for an 1894s that has gone by the wayside.
BTW, since I am asking for advice in the...
I have a new New Model Ruger Blackhawk 44 special with 4 5/8" barrel, lots of Keith 429421 265 gr bullets and am interested in your experience with Unique. Deer hunting and max shot would be about 50 yds.
Thanks
Don
My go to loads for the Mini 14 are:
Mil brass match prepped.
Nosler 60 gr BT varmit or 65 gr SGK
25 Gr H335.
WLR primers
Might start with 24 gr to be safe even though 25 gr has shown no issues in AR's or the Mini 14.
