Get a Redding Competition Shellholder Set from Midway for your caliber. They are a set of 5 shellholders of different heights for exactly your problem. If your caliber isn't listed, get one that uses the same base size as yours.

Is the Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle in 308 made anymore? For two years I have been checking many dealers and many show it listed on their websites, but no one ever has them in stock. If they stopped making them, I will stop bothering to check. I wish Ruger would announce if they are canceled. Thanks

The flame cutting to the frame happened to L-frames too but seems to stop after a point. I carried my L-frame with those loaded as a duty gun and have been shooting them since 1981 and still the same ones. The only unblemished guns are Safe-Queens.

For my NAA I carry a Mini-Altoids tin lined with a piece of adhesive felt to stop any rattle. Very tiny and handy. For a roam in the woods, I use a larger regular Altoids tin that is nice and flat in the pocket and less breakable than the factory plastic box.

If it's just for the range, go to Wal-mart. The price is lower than Midway and no shipping charge. They will have major brand in bulk and also some good self defense ammo for those too. I order a lot from Midway, but try to avoid shipping ammo just because lead is not cheap to ship.

If I remember correctly, the use of the "+P" designation may not have been used yet in the SuperVel days, although SuperVel helped pioneer ammo that cause the +P designation by it's hotter loaded ammo. SO be aware that it may be +P loaded, but not so marked. Many newer shooters don't know that...
