Correct way to carry a 1911

I carry mine condition two, live round, hammer down. Have and trained that way for 40 years. The 1911 was designed to replace the single action army revolver for the horse back troops. They weren't going to make the troops learn a new way to carry or cock their handgun

    Ruger sp101 wood grip question.

Look into Badger grips, I put them on my sp101s They have FBI style and target style.. They fit great and are affordable

    Colt Diamondback

They sell in the $1000.00 range. More if you have the box and paper work.

Why the fascination for the .45 ACP Vaquero?

For me it is because I have several 1911's and lots of .45acp ammo. And as said before .45acp ammo is a lot less expensive than .45 colt and is nearly identical in knock down power and velocity. also I don't reload. Also I like snubby revolvers!

    Smooth Grips

I have sambar stag grips on my SR1911 and while they have some bark grain they are glossy smooth. I also replaced the main spring housing with a smooth arched stainless housing as I like the feel of the arched better. I think I'm concealing better with smooth grips and mainspring housing as they...

    SR1911 Recoil Spring Buffer

Yes use them, I use them in my SR1911 and have used them in my Colt 1911's .38 supers and .45's with no problems for forty years! They keep the slide from battering the frame. I've always read from the so called experts that they will come apart and jam up your gun but I'm here to tell you that...

    Vaquero Lock

Thanks Doc Fillem, I went back and tried it again and got the strut and lock out! Got the bearcat seat installed and all works fine. I did file a slight step in the frame so as the seat won't shift. I read some where on this site that you really don't have to do that because the spring pressure...

    Vaquero Lock

Thanks I'll try that, I tried that at first but was afraid I might damage the strut. I've got a stainless bearcat seat I want to replace the lock with. I want to replace the lock because I have a chance to pick up a set of Sambar Stag grips from an old three screw Blackhawk and I think the frame...

Super Blackhawk Hammer & Bearcat Mainspring Seat

I installed my new Super Blackhawk hammer this morning with no issues thanks to the great advice from this forum and a couple of youtube video's. Found out that the Bearcat main spring seat would not work to replace the lock! I ordered KPR-5 like I read but it seems too short. I'll do some more...

    Super Blackhawk hammer installation advice?

Got my new hammer installed this morning! Was a pretty easy job thanks to everyone's advice! I was able to just change out the hammer without completely removing all of the parts using Hondo44's tip. Did all the tips on safety checks and everything worked fine. The only thing that slowed me up...
