Currently the brass only goes as far as your feet, after bouncing off the turrett that is.

That will just lighten the blow correct?

I want to replace the scope since it's just a cheap tasco but I really don't want to beat my Nikon up. I was just hoping there was a simple fix for it.

I bought my 77/50 from another member already converted and never had and issue. I shoot 2 pyrodex 50gr pellets under a saboted 240gr txp hornady. I have only about 50 of these loads thru this gun. I have never had an issue. This is my absolute favorite gun

Correction that was a 10/22 and a 77 short action

I have a srh 44 9 1/2 and a srh 454 7 1/2. I bought the 44 new 12 years ago for $425 and the 454 used 4 years ago used for $450. I will say the 7 1/2 make for an easier carry and draw. And as flash stated I don't know that the xtra 2" will really make that much difference in real world...
