    Turkey Season 2024

Worked a box call this afternoon, had a Tom return gobbles a few times, heard this bird before I saw it across our pond, watched it come across the dam, thinking it was the Tom, until it came closer and saw it was not the Tom I wanted. But, I hoped she would bring in a Tom! Alas, no dice...

    Ruger revolver for Bear hunting?

I also wondered why you were the only camper with a firearm when you typed your first reply here. I don't understand many humans. Totally unprepared for emergencies across the board. Thank goodness you not only had a firearm, but the skills and confidence to use it, and you likely saved that...

    Turkey Season 2024

Time to inspire the hunters here. Gobble gobble. They two have been struttin' around trying to win the hearts of hens on our land the past 2-3 weeks. My boy was fishin for stripers last weekend when the season opened for youth, but we are hoping to get some time in this Sunday or next week...

    Not "Hunting"!

Not only that, but the financial cost is high. I will never understand why someone pays $10K to kill a buck simply for the antlers, add travel costs to that, and taxidermy to hang it in his man cave. But I also never understand why killers wear camo and celebrate when they kill a deer over...

    2023 Deer Season

Our hunting gear stays in cleaned bags until we put them on outside where we are hunting. When done hunting off come the clothes into a different bag for washing. Wearing hunting gear (clothes and footwear) in public to absorb scents of food, gas, etc ... prefer not to.

    2023 Deer Season

@Seminole Wind pics of entrance hole / wound area? I haven't used a 454 for whitetail, curious as to damage.

    first buck of the season

It'll buff out. :( Man sounds like it sucks but humans A-OK which is the best outcome. Did you all saw the antlers off at least for hat Hooks or what not?

    2023 Deer Season

A doe and two bucks for my boy and I so far 2023. I found a scrape area a while back and we started watching it. Had 3-4 bucks coming in dropping their cologne at "scrape central" as I call it. Does, bucks, yote, bobcat and even turkey all coming to this lolocation. Glad I set a trail camera...

    2023 Deer Season

How is Whitetail 2023 for everyone so far? Any "one that slipped away" stories yet? Any unexpected didn't plan on seeing that in the woods? Meat in the freezer? Good luck and safety with everyone this season!

Have some clips to share. Here are a couple young bucks back in August 2023 stepping up.

    Ridiculousness I've seen/heard

I am teaching my boy, age 11, to get up close and personal with your quarry. Last Sunday we harvested a doe at 25 feet and a buck at 30 feet. The current state or hunting here in GA leaves much to be desired - shooting over bait, wounding animals due to poor shot placement and lack of...

How long do you wait before taking your deer for processing?

Here in Mid to N GA we process in the field when the deer is dead. This past Sunday it was an exercise in aggravation due to the sheer number of yellow jackets coming to the buffet. Good gawd! We got it done bit it wasn't pretty. We will be bringing a battery powered fan next time in an...

    Couple barely survive bear attack.

Wow I just check back on this forum and saw this. What AMATEUR HOUR that couple was. When you s##k as a "hunter" don't publish your major screw-ups. And don't smile and congratulate when you are such a poor marksman that you have to unload multiple projectiles into your quarry like you are...
