Okay, I'll try to stay cool here.
I've never "torn a gun apart" to clean it, since I've only cleaned the two revolvers that I mentioned in the method described in my original post. Removing the cylinder from a Single Six is hardly tearing it apart.
The original poster in the other thread I...
I agree with Cholo that I don't do the gun justice. I have so many personal deficiencies to correct that I've never tried measuring the gun itself. Not to offend anyone, but what's the point if a gun can shoot small groups if the shooter can't :D ?
First, Merry Christmas to you, too. I've only been shooting for a few months, so I don't have the mechanics perfected. Shooting a NM Single Six with the 5.5-inch barrel off-hand, I typically put all six rounds in an 8-inch circle at 15 yards at an outdoor range in various wind conditions using...
Before I start ranting, I'm a relatively new (less than a year) gun owner who enjoys shooting at the range but does not want to center my life around gun collecting, maintenance, etc. There is nothing wrong with people who do, but I've gone "over the deep end" with too many things in the past...
Okay, help out a poor revolver guy who will one day buy a semi-auto. It might not be hard after you get the hang of it, but this seems like poor design. I saw a video where a guy was showing how to reassemble a Mark something, and I swore that I'd never buy one.
Is this just a Ruger Mark series...
Consistently 4-inch or less grouping at 7 yards. Still working on 15 yards. Some 6-inch groups, some I don't even want to talk about.
Still haven't received the gun.
Will do.
I'm a new shooter who has gotten reasonably accurate with Single Six 22LR and am in the process of getting a 4" Security Six for home defense. After reading a zillion opinions, I think that I'm going to use 125 gr JHP 38 SPL+P ammo while the gun is at home.
Without opening the can of worms...
I'm looking at used GP100's on the Web, and a photo of a 4-inch blued GP100, taken from the front looking down the barrel, shows what appears to be a hole above the bore. What is that? I've never actually handled one.
Thanks.
Go to the following page on Ruger's web site

Click "Show All" on the revolver line. There are three new model Single Six links at the top of the list and three old model links in the middle of the list. The serial number on your gun should...
As rugerguy noted, you can get thinner rods. Just make sure that they come with an adapter which has a small hole at one end for the thinner rod threads and a regular size hole at the other end for the standard tool threads.
