Mini 14 target rifle scope mount problem

Mini 14s knocking mounts loose with the ruger scope mounts has been a common problem for me. Its always been the front mount toward the muzzle that comes loose for me, even with blue loctite. I think its a combination of things going on but maybe the operating rod and rotating bolt...

Barrel Cylinder Gap is Too Large

Not sure if anyone was aware, but bbti has some interesting info on how cylinder gap affects velocity. http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/gaptests.html

Vaquero transfer bar and transfer bar pinch

I picked up a used vaquero birds head 45 acp talo. It was modified for CAS prior and I prob should have left it alone. The hammer spring looked heavier then original and cut down for speed, but seemed like primer strikes could be a little weak. I wanted to carry it from time to time so I...

Broken Hammer Plunger; Is this a weak link in Ruger design?

I just would hope they'd get the cylinder right and it dont need to be reamed. With 454 casull this might be why the ruger blackhawk 454 doesnt already exist, unexplainably and dangerously high pressures with 454 as the cylinder throats are way too tight with the current assembly line thats...

Broken Hammer Plunger; Is this a weak link in Ruger design?

Hondo, I would agree with your trouble areas. The newer mag research BFRs addresses the base pin issue with the set screw into the barrel off the base pin, i didnt like it at first, but I think its a really good addition for guns with heavy recoil. Heck i think my single six might benefit from...

Broken Hammer Plunger; Is this a weak link in Ruger design?

I checked my bisley 45 convertible today. It's given me no trouble at all, however the fit left something to be desired when i got it new. The hammer was dragging terribly on the frame, basically didnt look too good. And the hammer pin was rotating, could not stop it, even tried loctite on...

    New Vaquero's - interchangeable cylinders?

I'm curious about one of the above questions by Mus408. Anyone comment on how well a new vaquero 45 acp cylinder will fit a new vaquero 45 LC frame and vice versa? My guess would be some if not most would work but its a guess. I was considering a montado 45 LC to match a birdshead 45 acp...

Broken Hammer Plunger; Is this a weak link in Ruger design?

I had a gp100 apart today, the hammer dog cross pin slides around, but theres a lot less space between hammer and frame on the double action from what I can see. Can anyone confirm or deny if the hammer plunger cross pin slides right out with limited force on ruger single action which has not...

Broken Hammer Plunger; Is this a weak link in Ruger design?

Thank you Jim. I have quite a few rugers and this looks like a great forum. Lots of experience and knowledge on here, looking forward to learning a lot.

Broken Hammer Plunger; Is this a weak link in Ruger design?

I think it still depends on how loose the pin fits, if its flopping back and forth, i dont think its a good thing. As the pin length is the width of the hammer approximately, if theres side to side play of the hammer while its in the frame, it might be possible for the pin to work its way out...

Broken Hammer Plunger; Is this a weak link in Ruger design?

Bullwhip, what i found on two cases, when i beat the cross pin out the cross pin hole, it seemed to open up a little and a new pin would not fit snug. I think the pin moving around is not a good thing. I had a BFR come back from mag research for same issue and shortly after the plunger again...
