Well, it looks like you thought wrong.
His post refers (as written) to the case hardening.
He says the "finish" is some kind of clear lacquer.
I just wanted a clarification.
I got it. Case closed.
That's not what he's saying on several internet forums where he's posted the same information?
This is a serious swipe at the quality of Turnbull's work and calls into question the finish of Ruger's gun,
and possibly the quality of every gun that Turnbull has ever finished.
I think he owes us...
Did someone at Turnbull actually tell you that?
I don't think that's true and I don't think Turnbull or Ruger wants that rumor spread.
What about Turnbull's other case hardened guns, are they an inferior finish too?
How would a person with a Turnbull gun know if they have a true case hardened...
I've owned at least eight New Model Blackhawks in 45 Colt in the past several years.
ALL OF THEM needed the cylinder throats reamed out in order to accurately shoot cast bullets.
Reaming undersized throats to .4525 drastically improved accuracy with lead bullets for me.
This is a known problem...
It does make it look stronger, but the 6 shot unfluted cylinder is no stronger than the 6 shot fluted cylinder.
The cylinder stop notches are still the same thickness and still the weakest point.
I do prefer the unfluted cylinder. I can't wait for Bud's to ship the one I ordered.
Bud's Gun Shop sold out of these very quickly.
There was 10 in stock when I ordered mine, then "poof" there was none.
Maybe Ruger can take a hint and pick up production of these?
Put it back together and shoot it.
There's no need to detail strip any firearm, unless you're going to replace a part.
I just spray my guns out with Hornady's Gun Cleaner And Lube.
It flushes all that garbage out and leaves a film of lubricant. Takes 10 minutes to clean a gun...
Well then what are some of the "more accurate" 9mm loads?
There are favorite loads in other calibers that everyone raves about,
like Bullseye loads in 45 auto, and 38 Special.
What are those well liked loads for the 9mm?
