Great pictures! Grew up in Alamogordo, and went to college in Las Cruces. Drank a lot of beer at White Sands back in the day. The amount of stars in the night over that area is amazing.

Aimpoint Pro or T1, Trijicon MRO, leupold freedom are all good red dot sights.
Vortex sparc 2 is supposed to be good, except I’m on an anti-China role.
For shooting out to 300, you might want to consider a low power variable optic such as a vortex 1-8 strike Eagle (still anti-China)

No need to drill and tap a smith to mount a red dot.
I had my Glock slide milled for an RMR red dot sight, and added suppressor heights that cowitness with the dot. Makes a huge difference for folks with old guy eyes.
I added a volquartsen sear to mine, it is very nice now.
