    Disappointing SP101 9mm

Looks like you got a Monday or a Friday gun. Have you contacted Ruger yet?

    Target Gray Rings

Apparently, Ruger sells the rings: Scope Rings Click the "Family" drop-down and select "Super Redhawk Revolvers", then click the "Model" drop-down and select ".480 Ruger". The front and rear rings are sold separately in various sizes, and are finished in "Target Grey Stainless". Be warned...

    Matte stainless

If your intent is to duplicate Ruger's factory matte satin stainless finish, you might want to give 3M's 800-grit "WETORDRY" automotive sandpaper (Item# 03022) a try. I've found that it's almost a perfect match for the factory finish. I've had excellent results using it to polish out minor...

    SP101, Shims

I have a number of Super Redhawk and GP100 revolvers, and all have benefitted from the installation of shims. The shims that I use are: Shim Flat Washer, 18-8 Stainless Steel, 3/32" Bolt Size, 0.093-0.098" ID, .198-.208" OD, 0.002" Thick (Pack of 25) and C1074/C1095 Spring Steel Round Shim...

Am I missing something? Please help.

Dunno. Maybe the seller is trying to leverage the (relatively) low serial number?

    Ruger PolyCase ammo.

The product literature (and the asymmetric arrangement of the grooves) seems to indicate that the projectile achieves its "maximum hydraulic displacement" when fired out of a barrel with a right-hand twist. So what happens when I shoot it out of a 1911, with a left-hand twist barrel?

    Uneven forcing cone?

I think the OP is referring to the "speckled" area between 11 and 1 o'clock on the end of the barrel.

Ruger Customer Service and My GP100

Indeed, I was so enamoured of the finish that I was sorely tempted to live with the damage. But my OCD won out in the end. FedEx tracking shows that Ruger received the gun two days ago; if they don't call me about replacing the gun, I'm assuming they will go ahead with repairing it.

Ruger Customer Service and My GP100

Well, I guess I should have examined the GP100 a little closer: I was looking at some old pictures I took of the same gun back in 2009, and the galling wasn't present then. I can only surmise that the galling was caused by the barrel being unscrewed from and/or screwed back on to the frame...

Another couple of images of the refinished GP100:

Ruger Customer Service and My GP100

The factory Hogue Monogrip is undoubtedly and undeniably ungodly ugly, but it is pretty close to ergonomic perfection, at least for my hands. If I do resume shooting this GP100, it'll be with the Hogue Monogrip installed. Besides, the wood-paneled grip that Ruger sent back with the gun is just...

Ruger Customer Service and My GP100

That is brilliant! But I have to ask, how did you get the felt liner to conform so perfectly to the inside surfaces of the case without creasing or folding?

Ruger Customer Service and My GP100

I recently sent my 2002-vintage satin stainless Ruger GP100 back to the factory for refinishing, as I had inexpertly tried to polish out a tiny scratch on the frame but ended up ruining the finish trying to blend the spot in with the surrounding area (there was no Dremel tool involved in the...

Preowned Super Redhawk 44 mag concern

Glad to hear the gun shoots fine! However, I am going to go against the grain and say that it is definitely not normal for the ejector rod to be sitting at that angle in the frame cutout. I have five SRHs and a GP100, and the ejector rods in all of them sit straight in their respective frame...

    Super Blackhawk Sighting Issues

I've purchased two 10.5" SBHs since about 2005. Both had to go back to Ruger for canted front sights due to incorrectly indexed barrels. To Ruger's credit, they corrected the problems promptly under their warranty, at absolutely no charge to me. One of the SBHs has since been sold to fund the...
