I use a side cutter and nip into the end of each wheel weight before I put it in the pot. The lead can be cut into with the side cutter and go into the pot but the Zinc and steel are HARD and wont cut...they go into the reject bucket. The Zinc and steel also "ring" when struck unlike the lead...
flatgate
That rear sight fix on the SBH gave me back about .025" that in my mind should have been there all along. I only needed a little to get to the desired "POA=POI" for that revolver.
The flattening of the bottom on a regular "bottomed out" sight only gets about .020 and that's not...
It is length moreso than weight when determining the necessary twist. The Barnes are probably bronze/brass alloy and therefore longer than a copper/lead cup style bullet (Nosler Partition). A 160 Nosler is probably shorter in length than a 150 Barnes. The old GreenHill formula is more for...
On a recent "zeroing" trip my Super Black Hawk (SBH) bottomed out the sight and was still hitting high. Upon closer examination once I got home (via loupe cuz I'm old(ish) and can't see near items) I noticed the rear sight was still about .025 off the bottom stop (the SBH frame).
I took the...
25 yards with a rifle scope... Is this scope adjustable for parallax (AO - adjustable objective)?
If your scope isn't an AO type you may be fighting eye placement/position and your load change could be having zero effect.
I have mixed feelings about making it into a shooter (my version of a shooter) but I did go looking for a shooter and this is what I found.... therefore it must be a shooter.
It is possible that I'll lose it in the safe and I do have a one-nut Buckeye Special coming (32 H&R only) in a week or...
I've been searching for one of these for a while and on a fluke I pulled up Guns International and there sat an affordable example... A 1973 3-screw with the boxes for $399.99.
I brought it home today and find that is is every bit as nice as stated. I'll have it out in a few weeks giving it a...
That looks like the correct stuff for the changeout...
My thanks for the information and solving the (to me) mystery.
The ERH and ejector button on this Sigle Six appear to be the same as on my Type 1 flattop Blackhawk 357. I guess I got the complete Micro Sight and just the Premier loading...
I don't know about the loading gate, I'll get a look at it once I have it back in my hands (next week).
I didn't, and still don't, know much about this little gun, I spied it hanging on a hook at a gun shop I frequent. ($265.00) Initially I thought it was a leaverite but once I mentally...
I was out browsing today and came across a Single Six with Micro sights, initially I thought they may be factory installed but a call to Ruger Support (great folks by the way) stated the shipping document showed nothing other than a Single Six, nothing special.
It has been used but for being a...
I'm a bit confused about the grip frames on the ROA (I found another nice one today for $350.00).
Which blued models (years/serial range) are alloy grip frame versus steel?
Your rosette is bigger!
I didn't know for sure on the Micro marked sight so I dug it out. It is serial number 2686 and has been around the block a few times.
I'm expecting a windfall (found money) from my impending retirement (sale of leave and such) so I'll pack in a few more Blackhawks...
I came across this stuff while cleaning up a bit, forgot I had these things squirreled away.
These old batteries don't look too bad for their age but the flashlight gives a pretty dim light with them in it.
And as a bonus, an article from an old paper I have saved. We can Monday...
