I added a new blue Pony to my stable today--Colt Gold Cup NM

Congrats. My GC is still my favorite 1911 after all these years. I just love the classic lines and the history behind the model. Bought mine brand new 21 years ago. It started out life as an Enhanced Model GC, but this year I had Colt "convert" it to a more traditional configuration with the...

    SR9c ?

Mine does that a little bit. Not a big deal for me.

    SR9C or ----

I carry my SR9C in a DeSantis IWB.

Thunderbolt ammo totally plugged my barrel today

Thunderbolts have been crap for the 30 years I've been shooting. I would imagine they were crap even going back further. Guaranteed to lead up my barrel after a box or two. I avoided Tbolts even during the shortages.

    paint flying off chamber indicator

Was thinking the same thing. I'd leave it.

.45 ACP pictures, not just Rugers

Besides my CMD, here's the others in my safe. Ignore the 10mm.

    Grease/Oil

I use CLP/BReakfree for pretty much everything, although from time to time, I'll put a little Mobile one on the rails.

    Magazine Maintenance

Being an ex-Jarhead, I'm a little anal retentive when it comes to cleaning my guns. I disassemble and clean my mags after each and every range trip. Because I have a lot of mags and don't know how long each particular one will sit in storage until its used again, I generally live a thin coat of...

    Avoiding the Idiot Scratch

I've found over the years the best way to avoid the idiot scratch is to simple not allow anyone else to field strip and reassemble my guns. Complete peace of mind for me.

SR9c and SR40c....is it just me?

I personally think my SR9C is as an ugly of a duckling as you can get, but that's me. I got it because it's a great carry gun, not because she's a great looker.

    Kimber 1911 .22 Conversion

My Kimber .22 conversion kit would not fit with my CMD. Slide could not be cycled all the way back. Works fine with my Colt and SW1911. YMMV, of course.

Help ! Cant retract bolt on Mk.II comp. target pistol

I agree. The strut is probably not in the right place. Its very easy to make this mistake during reassembly. It happens to me every now and then when I'm rushing and not paying attending. Just disassemble and reassembly and see what happens.

SR9C issue w/thumb safety (anyone seen this one?)

Recently got my gun back from the factory for repairs. The slide stop spring had worked itself loose from the tab securing it. A common enough problem and an easy fix for Ruger. The only problem now is that the thumb safety is impossible for me to disengage from the LEFT side. I can engage...

    Thumb Safety

I already had the thumb safety laying around in my bin of misc 1911 parts. It came off an old custom build I had one time put together. It might have originally come of a GI gun, but I recall refinishing it allong with the Essex frame I had about 20 years ago.
