    Ruger Warranty Repair

Today we cleaned his gun really good and tried the loads again, they shot fine did not stick, I had him try some of my hotter loads that I hunt with 25gr of H110 behind 295 gr. cast HPGC bullets starline brass and CCI large Pistol Mag Primers and again they did not stick. We could not get any...

    Ruger Warranty Repair

Has there been a drop in quality at Ruger lately? I have a friend that bought a Ruger SRH 44mag 7.5" revolver a couple months ago to use on a bear hunt in Maine and for deer season here in Vermont. He has always been a fan of semi auto pistols but had bought the SRH for its reliability. He went...

357 vs 44 for long range

My 9.5" 44 mag SRH (scoped) shoots great out to 200 yards with 295gr Cast Gas Checked HP @ 1500+ fps. Have no problem breaking clay pigeons from a rest at that distance and with almost 1100 fps remaining velocity at that distance it will do the job quite nicely.

    Flattened Primers

In the past the only flatten primers I have experience have been Factory loads, and I tend to run my reloads hotter than the factory loads. Go Figure

    Super Redhawk

I am in agreement with tulsamal, as I have a 9.5" and find it no problem to hunt with. The extra 2" of barrel over the 7.5" is not an issue for me in a hunting situation. ( a lot of people carry around a rifle with a 22 to 24 inch barrel and seem to survive the ordeal ) Barrel length vs what...

sold Oregon 44 bullets Post Closed

Already have fired them through the Revolver a few weeks ago, chronograph reviled a 75 fps drop in velocity with same load over a revolver with proper fit. Also if 6 shots are fired without waiting for the revolver to cool such as all 6 within 10 seconds, there is a drop per shot of about 12 fps...

My cylinder throats are .4317 , not my first rodeo with cast bullets, have a mold coming in and have a sizing die that should give me between .431 and .4315 after sizing, will shoot those. My other SRH had throats .001 smaller shot the .430" just fine. Cast bullets like a fit close to the throat...

    Bullet casting....

A friend of mine asked me once why I reloaded and I told him it was because I don't trust factory ammo, I know what I have when I am done, and the same goes for casting. You can as has been said taylor the cast bullet to fit your gun, they shoot better than any of the jacketed bullets I have...

    SRH vs SBH

All a man needs is just an opinion, you believe what you want, you have the right. Just remember it does not mean what you want to believe is right. The closed mind is a sad thing.

    SRH vs SBH

In some cases the extra velocity is not needed, but on the other hand, a cast 44 cal (or 45) bullet with a Meplat of .320 driven at 100 fps faster delivers an 8% greater wound channel, 200 fps 16% and so on. So even though it over penetrates it does more damage on the way through causing a...

    Rethinking calibers

It isn't everything, but remember one of the favorite rifles of some Eskimos years ago. Nanook of the North if you saw the documentary used to shoot quite large Polar Bears with a 222 Remington, he would shoot them in the back of the neck were the vertebrae was close to the surface and the Bear...

    Rethinking calibers

The 45 ACP was developed partly because of the problems the military was having stopping combatants in the Philippine War. "The then-standard Colt M1892 revolver, in .38 Long Colt, was found to be unsuitable for the rigors of jungle warfare, particularly in terms of stopping power, as the Moros...
