    Lock ring screw head stripped...

You really don't need to modify as the RCBS rings still work as designed. I just put the slotted head brass machine bolt in them for convenience of use... The Hornady have the allen screw to tighten the split ring... One reason I don't particularly care for the split ring is the fact that...

    Lock ring screw head stripped...

A good auto parts store will have them... I get rid of the brass set screws and use brass machine screws--slotted... Sometimes you have to grind the head a bit smaller to get die to screw in without the screw hitting the press... Easy to tighten the lock ring--a slotted screw driver beats...

Nice Accurate Target Load with Trail Boss

I’ve used it in the 223 Remington, 25 Auto, 270 Winchester, 30-30 Winchester, 357 Magnum, 38 Special, 44 Magnum, 445 Super Magnum, 45 Colt, and the 7-30 Waters… I have 61 different loads and of those 55% produce “acceptable” accuracy. All were with cast boolits with the exception of the 25...

H-110, 173 / 180gr Hard cast Lead Bullets ans Security Six

I agree with the off-hand shooting as this my be your only option while hunting if a rest of some sort is not available… But, I think I would shoot the test loads from a bench and with a good rest. You will then have some idea which load IS the most accurate… This will even give you more...

H-110, 173 / 180gr Hard cast Lead Bullets ans Security Six

Lyman Cast Handbook shows 15.7 of H-110 as maximum for the 358429… I shoot 15.0 grains of H-110 and the 358429 (~173 grains) in an old Security-Six… I am getting 1247 fps from a 6” barrel… Accuracy is around 1.5” at 25 yards from a good rest… But, there is nearly a 150 fps jump in velocity...

For those who have the RCBS 44-250-K bullet mold?

I little bit of hard chilled shot will help also... I sometimes put about 1/4 cup into a 6-7 pound melt of wheel weights when I am casting... (But shot is expensive now also) The shot will also help if you are water cooling or heat treating in an oven... Good-luck...BCB

For those who have the RCBS 44-250-K bullet mold?

Mine cast at 262± grains using wheel weights… The more lead in your alloy, the heavier and smaller diameter the boolit will be… The more tin and antimony, the lighter and larger diameter your boolit will be… Lyman #2 will probably put you in the ballpark as to what you are looking for… You...

Recommended .223 Loads for 50gr Bullets?

I shoot the 50 grain V-Max from a Super 16” Contender… I used to always use H-335 or WC-844 powder… Got a bit experimental one day and just thought I would try IMR-3031… Probably won’t going back to the other ones… It is just a tad better accuracy than the H-335 and the WC-844. Accuracy is...

    Static in powder measure?

I believe you just rub the powder measurer with it and that helps eliminate static... The other poster put the sheet in his hopper when not in use to probably help eliminate static build-up... I have done both and neither worked at all... More than likely it is the atmosphere an surroundings...

Powder for moderate 45 colt loads……

I have presently used 22 different powders in my 45 Colt Blackhawk… And I have used Unique as has been recommended. It is a good one to start with, but there are many powders better… Still you probably won’t go wrong with Unique… Good-luck…BCB

    Seamstress free sandbags

Nope, well I use wire to close the end of my sandbags. Some heavier gauge house electrical wire--don't know the size as I am not really familiar with this electrical stuff... But, I use inner tubes from passenger vehicle sized tires. Sometimes difficult to get... I put the sand in an old...
