I just bought a stainless birdshead 45LC Vaquero in 4 3/4 bbl at the last OGCA show for less than $400 LNIB. The guy said he didn`t like the grip once he got it home so decided to sell. I was amazed it was still there.
I have several birdshead gripped SAA revolvers but still like the standard...
I agree with the above post. I never rest the butt of the revolver. Seems to imput deflection under recoil.
Try it with a sandbag under the barrel only.
I`d be interested to know the results as your test rounds using 2400 should do very well if loaded properly. They always are tack drivers in my...
I`m also wondering how 4.3g of 231 can function without a reduced recoil spring.
I have found that 200SWC/4.5g is absolute magic for accuracy but less than reliable in my target 1911 platforms without running the lightest Wolf spring I have.
The only guns I had that would run on less than 5.0g...

We`ve all paid more for some of our firearms from time to time due to availability issues I`m sure. $50 to $100 extra isn`t going to break me.
Look what guys paid for ammo...

For Colt manufactured pistols there are:
1911
1911A1
series 70
series 80
series 90 (Double Eagle model)
It`s all good now. As stated above, I massaged the extractor and now have a couple of hundred rounds thru it without stoppage. The Commander model I have never exhibited the issue over a couple of boxes fired.
I`ve been shooting a Colt slide/Essex framed 5" custom gun (Kings Gun Works) for...
The problem is apparently solved.
I took the extractor out again and smoothed the edges with emery cloth and reinstalled.
I decided to not change the spring before I gave it another chance.
It did the same thing again but on the second round of the third magazine so I ran a full box of 230RN...
