it seems hard to find reliable loading data for this bullet. i'll be useing it in my SBH for deer hunting. i had seen what it did on deer out of my muzzleloader so i will be useing it out of my SBH. can anyone point me in the right direction?
any gun i sold the magnaport made a positive difference and i always got a little more for the gun. the two ports is pretty conservitive compared to many of the portings and brakes that i have seen.
well, i was at the range today with my newly magnaported SBH and i was not disappointed. i went with the two port cause thats what i had on other guns and it always worked well. so no more banging of my middle finger, which is why i ported it. felt recoil, both muzzle flip and rearward thrust...
i had a 8'' 629 with the two port magna port and it did reduce felt recoil and those two little slits did not add anymore noise. the only flash i ever noticed was from hot loads of H110, most other powders there was hardly any. i would get more flash from a 180grn bullet. i never had any...
well i just got back from the range with no knuckle pain. i put my hand lower like you said, with the pinky just on the grip. with both my target and hunting loads i had no problem. i always gripped on my guns high so i'll have to get used to this.
just about ready to sell it till today until...
this being a hunting handgun i want to practice with something close to my hunting loads.
maybe my hands are not meant for SA handguns. i mostly hunted with S&W 29s but started using SA cause the S&W would loosen up on me. this blackhawk is like a bank vault, and this bisley hunter is one fine...
stronger hand isn't a problem, iv'e been a weight lifter for over 30 years. it seems like the smooth grips just slide in my hand just a bit. when i hold the gun [not choking up high on the grip] the big joint on my middle is almost touching the back of the guard. i will try holding lower as you...
i can't remember what the problem was on the fitting. my frame would go off and on but the other frame wouldn't, i didn't want to force it.
i down loaded some 240s to 1300fps and that doesn't bang my finger, i might just stick to that for practice for now and maybe get a SRH later.
the last...
i tried a grip frame from someone on this forum last year but could not get it to fit. i didn't want to grind on his frame so i sent it back. the thing that keeps me from the magna port is my scope is so close to the end i worry the blast will damage the lens.
i think i might sell this and buy...
rubber SBH hunter/bisley grip, does anyone make one. i love this gun but no matter how i grip it the trigger guard bangs my middle finger hard. the old SBH did it and i sold them but i thought the bisley grip and round trigger guard would fix it. lets not talk about ''let the gun roll'' i have...
i had a few regular SA grip years ago on a SBH and had the same problem but worse no mater how tight or loose i held it . plus back then the back of the trigger guard was square. when i seen the SBHH with the round trigger guard and bisley grip i thought that would be the ticket. its no where as...
no matter what i do i can't keep the ruger single action triggerguard from beating my middle finger when i shoot heavy loads. so a few years ago i bought a blackhawk hunter with a bisley grip hoping that would help, it did but only a little. i tried to locate some rubber grips like hogue or...
