M77 scope rings

I recently came into my possession a M77 30-06
It did not have the Ruger scope rings.My question where and which rings should i look to purchase?

For a 77 I believe you need rings of two different heights. Which ones depends on the height you want. What scope do you intend to mount? Scope objective size will determine which you need. I'm betting a WTB in the classifieds here would yield what you need.

I have some if you can decide what is needed! Blued or SS maybe

I usually see lots of them used at gun shows, both blued and stainless.

If you get an older pair they may have slotted screws for the rings. You can get them in torx from Ruger or online from Midway. Nothing like having screw slots boogered up from Joe the backyard gunsmith.

I don't like slotted screws.
You don't have to be a backyard gunsmith to booger those up simply because some of those screws weren't worth squat to start with.

Matched with the right screwdriver, you can get a lot of torque on slotted screws. The problem I have is they don't stay centered and the edge of the screwdriver drifts out and boogers the blueing. I think they're OK for stainless firearms.
