Since I had promised myself a few years ago that my first handgun purchase when and if I reduced myself to getting a MD HQL would be a Yeet Cannon it had to be the most Yeetastic Yeet Cannon ever. It started with an appropriate muzzle brake now I have added appropriate sights and optic rail. I'm waiting for the Louis Vuitton vinyl wrap for the grips and the $20 red dot that will suit this joke of a firearm perfectly.

Never heard of the thing. Doesn't look like something I'd be interested in. But, I'm glad you're happy with it.
It was a joke from the start. Hi Point had a name the new gun campaign and Yeet Cannon won much to their chagrin. Of course being a High Point it can't get through a mag without a jam at which point you Yeet it at your adversary.

Some folks love their High Point firearms. Talked to a guy about ten years ago; he wasn't making a lot of money, but liked to shoot. Bought himself a High Point pistol, and later a High Point carbine in the same caliber - he stated that both were pretty much 100% reliable, in his experience. He enjoyed shooting them (got a discount on ammo where he worked ;>), and considered them well worth what he paid for 'em.

I've never fired one, pistol or carbine, but have looked at some High Point parts in a carbine parts kit. To keep the price affordable, they apparently use various alloys instead of steel for some parts, which might influence how long they last. But more manufacturers seem to be doing that; I remember being surprised to learn a few years ago, that a S&W .380 pistol I was reading about had an alloy slide.

As always, IMHO, FWIW, YMMV, etc., etc.

Hi Point uses Zamak which is a zinc based pot metal alloy that's pretty much poured in a mold. S&W uses aluminum alloys. Adding chrome and molybdenum to steel creates an alloy as well. I honestly pity anyone forced to rely on a High Point. They say that you have to shoot more than the thing costs in ammo to break it in and be reliable as well as leave the mags loaded to capacity. The first time I shot it it would only get 2-3 before a jam. I left the mags loaded and the second time out it went till the next to last round in the mag before it jammed. Who knows might be 100% next time maybe not and if it is for how long??? It's living up to it's ultimate potential in the spirit of it's name.

Everything I have read about the Hi Points has been mostly positive although I do remember people saying they had to tweak the magazines. A lot of people seem to really like their carbines.

I have never shot or owned one
. About 15 years ago I went to a gun show & a guy had a table full of them for sale for $99 brand new in the box. I was almost bought one just to see if it was any good.

I own a Hi-point 9mm carbine . I got it a few years ago on a sale at cabelas , about $175 as I remember. It has at minimum 7500 rds thru it , never a misfire ,stove pipe etc . I have no experience with their hand guns. But for the price , awesome carbine that is a lot of fun .

Yeah mag is 90% probably the problem. I got a second mag and it still does it. After 100rnds it's less frequent. At this point I'm focusing on bringing it to it's true potential. Versace I think grips, homeboy sights and an offset dot. I have been looking at their carbines ever since I saw one in the ATI Beretta knockoff stock. The issue has always been the mags. It seems the aftermarket is completely incapable of producing mags that work in them and even their own mags are iffy. They should have punted years ago and went with a known working mag available on the market.

I had a 9mm about 10 years ago. I paid $75.00 used. It actually worked but over a pistol rest shot honest six to seven inch groups at 25 yards, very loose and sloppy. I maybe put 300-400 rounds through it, then gave it to an employee who was going to stash it somewhere at home in case zombies showed up someday. I know he shot it at least a few times and it didn't blow up in his hands. He moved to Florida about 6 years ago so I have no clue if it's still out there.
We used to joke that Hi Point should have been a ammunition manufacture selling ammo in 1000 round boxes with a free gun included,
kind of like the prize in a Cracker Jack box.

My 10-12 year old hi-point is on its third owner and only had springs replaced. It was 100% reliable with ball and Remington golden saber JHP ammo. They are made in Fla & have a lifetime warranty, their 10MM carbine is on my list just because. Long live the Yeet Cannon!!!!!

The $19 red dot finally arrived!!! Nothing too good for a high point!!! It has finally arrived at it's greatest potential!!! Positively Yeettastic!!! Oh yeah I'm still waiting for the Louis Vuitton wrap for the grips!!!

All it needs is an orange tip on the muzzle and it would look complete. My only question on that thing is WHY?
The Yeet Cannon because YEET CANNON!!! I honestly hoped that the High Point would live up to the reliable reputation I had heard about. The red dot seems to be working fine. My 357 sig poly 80 creation because I was trying for a 300yd semi auto. Wound up being 75-100yd but 2,000fps from a handgun is pretty ferocious.

I've heard the Hi-Point handguns are kind of hit-and-miss for reliability, but the carbines are pretty good. Never could warm up to either one, personally.

OTOH if you need a cheap, disposable handgun you wouldn't mind "yeeting" into a lake at need, well . . .

This is a definite miss. After over 200rnds and every mag tweak it still jams before the end of a mag. I honestly pity anyone who has to depend on one of these. You get a few shots off before it jams and then you Yeet it at your adversary!!! No Tap, Rack, Bang either. Lock slide back, drop mag and pry jammed round out of the action!!!
