Just got back from the 4 day defensive handgun class at Front Sight in Nevada.

I took a new (only about 75 rds through it) SR1911 in 9mm with a total of 5 Ruger factory magazines. I used the Ruger Mernickle holster.

The combination was perfect for me for that class.
I was VERY pleased with the gun - performed flawlessly - I cleaned it once at the end of the second day. (We shot over 600 rds. in 4 days!) I was able to shoot half dollar size 5 shot groups from 5 meters by the end of the class, when I did my part and focused.
I'm a bit slower than some (I'll be 71 next month! ) but the gun shot right on for me.
I grew up with Ruger revolvers (both single and double action) but I'm really getting to like these Ruger 1911s! :D

Terry,
Great for you, from an 82 year old shooter. I carry my SR1911 80% of the time, because it is so reliable
and accurate. It is a .45 ACP, but I also have a 9MM 1911 I often carry too.
