We got a light snow down to the valley floor last night, Great Sand Dunes got a little more than we did at the house. Pretty cool looking in the sun, top of those high dunes is over 8500 ft elevation

Great pic! Most folks think; "sand, desert, no snow!" I always enjoy seeing snow on sand. Adds a different look to the contours!

Don, where is Crestone, CO?
Between Alamosa and Salida on the far east side of the San Luis Valley, right against the base of the west slope of the Sangre De Cristo, only one road into town, turn off of Hwy 17 between Salida & Alamosa in Moffat, head east on "T Hwy" past the "High Valley Recreational Marijuana shop" and past the big herd of Yak at Chokurei Ranch home of the "Happy Yak"whilst being careful to not have an accident with the Pronghorn, Mule Deer, entire herd of Elk or a Coyote or errant Yak outside the fence and in the road. When you get about as far east as you can go on T Hwy at the base of Kit Carson Mountain, you are in Crestone, everything to your right is the Baca Grande, Crestone proper is to the left.
Mercantile Grocery & Hardware store, Aventa Credit Union & ATM, Post office, Elephant Cloud Health Food store and the town's only gas pump, a couple of coffee shops, a bar, Bed & Breakfast places abound. Here is a good pic
The approach to Crestone on T Hwy, looking East at the base of Kit Carson Mountain and in that high mountain valley is Willow Lake, on right side of pic is the Baca Nat'l Wildlife Refuge and Baca Grande home development, monasteries, etc. and on the left side is Crestone Township, North Crestone creek and campgrounds in Crestone creek canyon. North Crestone Creek is a really nice place to go camp.
