The Standards are my favorite Ruger auto pistols. My first Standard model was a 6 inch model made in 1971 that I bought in 1981 at a pawnshop for $125.00 plus tax with the red box and paperwork. I had read that Ruger was not going to make The Standards or Mk1's anymore and the article said nothing about Mk 2 models. I have a friend that had a MK1 and I had to have one. I have added a few more over the years. I didn't get the brown paper with mine.
My first one, a RST-4, I bought in 1974 while I was in the Army. I no longer have the pistol, but I still have the receipt. I paid $66., brand new.

I do love the original standard model, but I must admit my favorites of the series are the MK2s. They could have stopped with the MK2 and I would have been completely happy.
I picked up a nice Standard yesterday as well but I didn't get the box and shipper like yours.

I have only one standard it is a 4" mark II, shoots to point of Aim and feeds everything.
Ruger likes to trick people with their model designations, but the standard only came with a 4 3/4" or a 6" barrel. The 4" barrels were all bull barrel models.
