Hello , new to this forum and forums in general.

I recently acquired a Ruger M77 MKII in 300 win mag.
I topped it with a Arken SHII 6-24X50
My local Gunsmith and I went to sight it in tonight using Norma 155gr and couldn't get it under 3MOA .
I've read most folks are running 180-200gr.

Any input would help .
Thanks

I've never used 300 Win mag with lighter than 180 grain bullets. Also, getting small groups from a 300 magnum can be more difficult than with a lighter recoiling cartridge.
Oh yes I forgot to welcome you to the forum :)

From what I'm reading it seems like those heavier bullet weights are the ticket !
Thank you for the information!

Welcome from Wydaho
i use 190 grain in a high quality ammo such as Nosler or hand load
Thank you ,
In my 308 I've always used 180s.
When I got the rifle in the trade it came with ammo .
Starting to realize why the box of 180s is almost gone but the 150s only have a few missing

I run the 200 gr. Speer Hot Core in five .300 Win. Mag. Rifles over a max load of the now discontinued WMR (Winchester Magnum Rifle) powder. velocity is right at 2880 FPS. Rifles are a Winchester M70,a Ruger #1B and three Ruger #1S. Accuracy runs from .50" to 1.0 inch depending on which rifle I'm shooting. The load did a very nice job on a fat cow elk at a lasered 530 yards. One shot and down, DRT. All rifles have 26" Barrels. WMR has ben discontinued for a long time . I did a little work with IMR7828 SSC and was coming close to the WMR load. I have so much WMR that I never followed up with the 7828SSC.

My 'practice load' in the 300 Win mag 12# target rifle I shot for several years was green/yellow box Remington 180 grain CoreLokt or a reload equivalent. The most cost effective way to get empty brass was to shoot factory loads for 'practice'.
I took this rifle elk hunting once. It was a guided hunt using horses so I didn't have to carry the bugger very far. Guide asked "How far away will that hit an elk?". I said "I know where it hits out to five to six hundred yards." Due to deep snow in the high country that was about as close as we could get--one shot @ 560 yard put a big cow on the ground. Needless to say, that rifle liked Remington 180 grain CoreLokt bullets.

My No.1-S like the Speer 180 Gr. Grand Slam over a full load of IMR4350, 2950 FPS. I can shoot 1.25" groups at 100 yds. and have shot three moose at 125, 180 and 378 yds. All dropped with one shot.
