If he has an early ROA,, then it's likely a blued gun, and has a 7-1/2" bbl, with adjustable sights.
Now,, depending upon HOW early,, and a few features,, there CAN be a premium of a few of them. As we say; "The devil is in the details."
Posting the serial number as well as the basics can help.
But,, there is a bit of an oddity when it comes to the ROA's. Serial numbering.
1972,, the first year of production, the guns were blue, and they started with serial number 140-00001.
Stainless guns didn't come out until 1975, and started with the serial number 1. NO prefix. Then in later 1976, they adopted the prefix serial number of 145-00001 and went from there. Lastly, in 1981,, the blued guns went to the 145 prefix as well.
