From left to right...

A No. 1V in .223
A No. 1S in 300 H&H
A B78 in 30 06 (octagonal, no less!)
A couple of No. 3 Rugers, both in .22 Hornet (I know, it's a disease)
My newest, a Model 77 in 375 H&H
A Marlin 336 Octagonal (they only made 2,414 of these)
A couple of 1895 Marlins in 45 70 (the one on the right was made in the first year of production)
A Talo 10/22 with French walnut (I have another one of these NIB I'd sell)
A Davidson's Mini with Circassian walnut
A Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle

The B78 is my favorite! At one time I had octagon barrelled B78's in 25-06, 30-06 and 7MM Mag along with heavy barrelled .243 and 22-250s. The only one I kept was the 7 Mag since it was my dads. The rest all went for those rascally kids school stuff.

Nice collection there, but I think you should not be hogging both of those 22 Hornets. I think one should come live at my house ;) TD

I have the Hornet disease bad. I bought a new No. 3 in 22 Hornet in 1976 with the 200th year inscription and stupidly sold it. Felt bad about it ever since. Kept my eyes peeled for another one for years and had no luck. Finally found a non-200th year No. 3 Hornet and bought it. A few months later I found a 200th year rifle; so I pulled the trigger again. Now I have two No. 3s in 22 Hornet. Does that make a No. 6?

Then I saw a 1B in 22 Hornet with a gorgeous fiddleback stock. Pulled the trigger one more time. Then the Holy Grail appeared on GB; a 1A in 22 Hornet. Paid way too much, but it has great wood and it is in as new condition.

Final score: Two No. 1 rifles and two No. 3 rifles in 22 Hornet. Maybe that makes one No. 8.

I like the cartridge. No rational explanation for it. I just do.
