It looks like the ammo guys are loading pistol bullets. They all have a poor BC <o.2. Given this the 350 is not greatly superior to the 300 BLK. The 300 BLK is OK for deer to 200/250yds the 350 to ~300. No big! If the longer rifle bullets could be loaded in the 350 it would make a big difference.

Uh...the 350L has significantly more power than the 300 Blk in all loadings. Not even close.

Yes, indeed it has more power. And it is going to be a big hit in Ruger's newly released AR-556 MPR.

300 AAC Blackout 110 Grain V-MAX 1377Ft lbs
350 Legend 150 Grain Extreme Point Polymer Tip. 1800 Ft lbs.
Yes more but not a lot and either is fne for deer, maybe OK for elk, sort of for moose. 308 is around 2800 for similar ammo and just fine for all three. You don't need a lot of Ft lbs for deer, why over gun with something that's not really adequate for heaver game? At 100 yards the difference between 300 & 350 energy is a lot less. At 200 yrs the BLK has a slightly higher retained energy than the 350; the 350 has a much poorer bc!

I hope the 350 is a big success as the AR needs a better deer cartridge that's legal where the .223 is not. The BLK is fine at <200 yards but that's getting close to shotgun. BTW the BLK isn't straight wall!

I thought the existence of the 350 Legend was a joke at first, and it is.

Advertising was a straight up straight wall lie right out of the starting gate, ask any 444 Marlin shooter.

No joke at all. I think of the 350 Legend as a scaled down 450 Bushmaster. And the Bushmaster sort of displaced the 444. Just evolution.

The 450BM is a niche cartridge and appears to be dieing even in the AR. The 444 has been displaced recently by the revived 45/70, but is still more popular than the 450BM. The problem with all of these (45/70, 444, 450BM,...) is the lack of different rifles for them. The 45/70,444 are pretty much lever actions (yes there are some single shot 45/70s and even a pistol), the 450BM is pretty much AR only. Only the 350 is readily available in semi auto, bolt action and single shot. I would not be surprised is a lever action came out.
But the ballistics of the 450BM are superior to the 350 for large game and the 45/70 & 444 can take any game in the world. The 350 is basically a deer cartridge!

Its fake news, their advertising said the fastest straight wall...A lie and a joke

So it's the same fps as .444. What else is faster?

Several of the nitro express, 45/70 (modern fire arms), 450 Marlin, 458 Winchester are all faster if that makes any nevermind! The faster bullet where this cartridge is apparently designed for is a big disadvantage! The distance a bullet will travel depends largely on velocity and BC. Yes there are other factors but those are the biggest. Luckily the high velocity is offset by the crummy BC. The AR limits the usable col so better bullets are doubtful.

No it ain't. A Hornady Super Performance is pushing a 265gr 2400fps. A handload Keith 255gr is whatever you want it to be in excess of 2600fps.

There is this stuff

https://www.underwoodammo.com/collections/rifle-ammo/products/444-marlin-220-grain-xtreme-penetrator?variant=18785711652921

Maybe 350 "Legend in its own mind", you heard it here first.

Only the 458 is faster, and that is belted, so one could say its not truly straight. I think their claim of fastest straight wall is close enough to the truth that calling it a lie and a joke is a bit of an overstatement.

Even the 45/70 is faster when loaded for modern guns! But with this round being designed for areas with a lot of development faster is worse!
