I bought a 1970 M-77 RS new in 73. It was my intention to buy a M-70 .270 the hardware store advertised. That's how old I am, you could paint and semi-auto pistols in one stop. Little did I know the wily old gent took advantage of my youth steering me away from the popular .270 to this dog he was stuck with. Unfamiliar w/the .284 caliber he assured me it was a hidden gem and what if he threw in ammo, binoculars and a hard case. Well it didn't take long to snap, that warm fuzzy feeling left after reading popular opinion in the various gun magazines. It's spent it's life in the closet, took it on a mule deer hunt in New Mexico, another story. I'm going to try and shoot some long range events, friend of mine tried to get me involved years ago. Does the M77 have any potential as an F class rifle? .284 6mm?
