Hammer plunger

Having trouble removing cross pin for the hammer plunger. Any suggestions?

Good solid bench, a hardened metal or some such "bench" block ,with a hole it , solid, squared (level) tip on the punch you use and a BFH......good luck
....and hit it like you mean it...

And make sure you have the hammer supported properly before whacking it!

I took a plain round gunsmithing block, that didn't have any holes already cut. I heated an old hammer,, to where it'd melt a bit of the delrin/poly stuff, into the shape of the hammer. Then, I drilled a hole larger than necessary for the plunger pin. Makes holding the hammer secure a lot easier.

I wonder if squirting a little WD-40 up into the hammer plunger itself, and letting it sit for a few hours, would help with the removal of the pin (?). It certainly helped me 'un-stick' a sticky/stuck hammer plunger.

For stuck stuff,, I use "Ed's Red." Much better than wd-40.

Ed's Red or Kroil is what I use. Remember, "WD-40" stands for water displacement formula #40. Yes it is a lubricant (to a point) and it works very good for a lot of stuff but for penetrating oil, there are a lot, that IMO, are better.
