I was looking to buy a .22LR conversion kit for my SR1911 and came across the GSG kit. I'm gravitating to this one for two reasons.

1. Numerous reviewers say the slide locks open after the last round is fired
2. It's $199 and in stock

Does anyone no if it works on the full size Ruger SR1911? (not the commander)

Thanks for your help!

I'd just buy a standalone GSG 1911-22 for $100 more and have a dedicated 1911 in 22 caliber.

It's a far better solution.

Thanks for the input everyone. I looked around and can't find that gun for any less than $350 plus the $25 transfer and the $25 background check puts me at $400. I definitely like the price of $200 better. But it would be nice having two guns instead of 1 and a half.

No one knows for sure if it works though?

Thanks!

It'll work if it works on a 1911.

I paid $275 forbthatbgun a few years ago.

If it's made for a 5" Gov't model 1911 45 ACP, there's no reason it should not fit.
Can't speak specifically for the GSG, but I know that any Ciener unit, or copies of it (such as Kimber), will work on both standard 5" and Commander-length frames.

I didn't realize GSG made a conversion unit. Perhaps I'm in the minority but I'd opt for one instead of a complete pistol. While decent, no GSG trigger I've tried (3 examples) is as good as my 1911CMD's action. The complete pistols can be hard to come by. Right now I know of only one available at the several LGSs I frequent. It's tagged at $350. It's the first one I've seen locally for months. A $200 conversion w/o any additional FFL charges is quite appealing.

I have the Advantage Arms conversion kit. It fits my Ruger 1911 and it fits my Rock Island 9mm Tactical.

It has the last shot hold open feature that other conversion kits do not have.

Hi,

as this thread is some months old now, may I ask if anybody tried the GSG conversion kit (or the "upper" of a complete GSG 1911) on a SR1911 and knows for sure if it fits without any adjustments ?

The GSG conversion is the only one I can find here for a reasonable price, and a complete .22 pistol is not an option as I´m limited to two handguns by law here, while conversion kits in smaller calibers than the original gun don´t count.

Thanks,

Wolf

I put one on an SR1911, and the bottom lug of the conversion unit needed to have a couple thousandths of an inch filed off for a proper fit. So, yes it will definitely work, but may need some final fitting.
