Does anyone have ideas on where to find grips for the gp100 that aren't run-of-the-mill grips? I'm looking for nice looking grips to "doll up" a 3".

There is a paucity of aftermarket Ruger DA grips that look nice as well as are functional. Badger grips jut out in a goofy direction IMO and look like Hell. There is (was) a better alternative IMO and that was the co. on Ebay from Thailand selling their own brand of grips. I have a pair and to be frank they are fantastic. The problem is that I do not see them offering them for the GP100 anymore. :(

Here's a link to their other offerings on Ebay:

Here's a set I bought from them last year for my gun:

Boge glad someone else noticed the weird angle on Badger grips. Neever could figure that one out!

Yes, & Gemini Customs does the same with their grips: bizarre rearward angle.

shopruger.com shows the Match Champion grip as an accessory item now:

Here is a look at them on a blued gun:

Hogue makes a wide array of grips. In wood they offer a number of species and configurations with or without finger grooves, checkering and grip caps. Herretts offers a number of configurations in several woods, too. At one time Altamont offered rosewood grips for the GP I believe in some special editions and Ruger also offered at one time a wood grip with the stock configuration of old in rosewood. They turn up occasionally. Here are a few links:

Eagle also makes grips but some complain of poor fitting. Never had any so can't say. The Badger and Gemini grip angle sort of reminds me of Glock and Steyr grip angles. Never could get used to it and guns sort of pointed high for me.

I think some posters are confusing inserts with grips. No matter the insert you still have the gummy rubber outer grip that is worthless for CCW, if that is important to you. Me, I despise any form of "Goodyear" grip as they looky chintzy & cheesey IMO.

The buyer I bought from on Ebay is named jaruwan.p and he just sent me a message that he will have a new bunch of GP100 grips posted next week.

Funny how people have such different tastes about things. I guess that's why there are so many different beer flavors in the stores. And that's not a bad thing!!

Me, I think the original rubber grip with the inserts look best on the GP100. I haven't seen a full wood grip yet that would even tempt me to purchase it. Granted, I don't conceal carry my GP100 and would probably choose something different if it were of a size that could be effectively concealed.

I'm even wanting to purchase some inserts from Altamont for my wife's new SP101 as I think they are the best looking grip for that handgun. She won't be conceal carrying that either. It will be more of a car and house gun.

I like the feel of the new Match Champion grips. They would be my second choice for a GP100.

This is one of the Altamont grips listed above. It has the Fancy Rubber very much like what comes on a Willy Clapp GP100. The inserts are Fish Scale. Unfortunately they do not come in the Compacts.

Rear view of my 3 Inch GP100. With luck showing some of the scrolling in the rubber back strap. No luck with the scrolling, however the Marble Fiber Optic front sight looks fine.

I believe this picture is my SP101, but the back of the grips are about alike. This should give you an idea what the GP100 grips look like on the back and front. The back has a Diamond shape moulded into the center. The front is a little more like fish scale and has a different shape in the center.

Myself I like this grip just fine. I have the same Altamont grips on both my GP100 and my SP101 that I conceal carry almost daily, and I do not have a big problem with the rubber grips being grabby on clothing.

The GP100 is one of the few guns I've owned where I was completely happy with the factory grips. But after seeing SP101 checkered panels I got the Altamont panels for the Ruger grip. The front edge of the panels were a little thin so I added a 0.025" plastic shim to make them even with the rubber. I am really happy with the result though.

I went with the checkered rosewood because I think it looks kind of traditional.

Whoa, those do look nice! Do they make a Redhawk grip? I don't see one in their auctions.

I prefer the factory grips as well, and don't have issues with them even with a cover garment. Too bad the Thai grips are smooth... they have some nice grain, but smooth wood and my sweaty hands are not the best combo.

Boge, thank you. Just ordered a set.
I don't think you will be disappointed. I ordered a set for my 3"bbl GP100 a while back. The fit to the revolver was excellent. I had to wind up sanding mine down and reshaping somewhat as they were too thick for my hand, but for the money spent they are very fine grips!

Oh, mine are the smooth combat grips, I actually prefer smooth over checkered, just a personal preference thing.
