I want to put a exteded mag release on my .300BO Ranch Rifle. I saw on done so I know it is possible but I don't know how to get it apart, like on a AR. THE BACK SIDE DOES NOT ALLOW THE BAR TO COME OUT FAR ENOUGH TO UNSCREW THE ACTUAL MAG LOCK BAR. Anyone have any ideas? Let me know. Last resort, call Ruger!

It had to be installed some way so there must be a way to 'uninstall'.
When assembling AR's, I use a delrin punch to push the mag release button deeper into the recess allowing the 'bar' to be threaded into the button the correct amount.

I have no experience with the Ruger, but are you able to push the mag button deeper with a tool of some sort so the bar will stick out enough to turn it?

Notice how the long bar, the catch is sunk into the stock? It is flush with a AR frame. You push the ejector button extra deep and unscrew that bar from the button. Can't do that here as you can't push the button deep enough to unscrew the latch bar.. So, no, not exactly like a AR. Ruger has a trick to get ti apart.

Have not yet but I bet there is a trick I am not getting, yet! pretty sure I saw one of these installed somewhere but may have been mistaken.

Ruger is famous for their Tricks. MK series is the most common Bag of gun most smiths see.

The scores that hold the extended release to the release button need a little lockstep just so they don't back off. The picture from this morning was a working job but still touching up and finishing to make it look good. Basically a little bit bigger release but mostly cosmetic. Looks cool as I was able to match the color to the stock so we'll. Just got lucky!
