One of mine was probably built the same day---less than 300 younger than yours. I had to look it up just in case they might have been consecutive brothers. I have a couple more that are 2 years after yours.
Excellent condition! Very nice lil rifleI picked this one up a good while ago. It survived it's life unharmed & unfired. I'll have to dig it out of the back of the safe to get the serial number. I'd love to have some information on it's date of manufacturing if there's someone certain of that info. View attachment 16989View attachment 16990View attachment 16991
Love the rare uncommon checkered version of the finger grooved stock......took a long long time to acquire the one i have , guarded by the RSSE dance team..........Splitz
I need to find the manure pile you stepped in to have such good luck!I was fortunate enough to snag this 1970 finger groove from a used gun shop today for $175.00. Looking forward to sending some rounds through it 2morrow. I have an older carbine from early 80's I bought when I was 14yrs old and another carbine from late 80's. Tell ya what. Those lil rifles r indestructible and I call them the M1 Garands of .22's. They just keep firing!! Any idea how many finger groove rifles were made? They ran from 66 to 71

Bummer....I have been collecting firearms since I was a kid and had never come across one of these before. Needless to say, I'll hold onto to this one. Now I know what they are, I've been looking for a .44 mag in the finger groove too. Not an easy lil rifle to find!I had one and foolishly sold it.
It's not even good enough to shoot!!!Makes me wonder why Ruger canceled the Finger Groove out of their lineup. They point and feel so good in one's hands
