I bought a new Ruger GP100 with a 3" barrel today. It has the Hogue grips on it, which are nice but I'd like to find something a little smaller (I have small hands.) I checked on the Pachmyr site, and apparently their compact grips don't fit the GP100. On the Ruger site, it says their original grips (with the wood inserts) only fit the GP100 adjustable sight models...which the 3" model does not have.

Anyone have any suggestions for a set of small/compact rubber grips for the 3" GP100?

There`s even a smaller GP grip with panels , put a WTB add in the classifieds & see what shakes out for ya .

Call for the compact panel grips .

If ya can get the rubber ya can get the panels from member 41Magnum !!! ,then all ya need is the locator pin .

& congratulations on your purchase ,I sure miss my 3" !!

The grip frame stud is the same for both guns. The original grips are interchangeable between compact and regular grip. The panels for the SP also are the one's that fit the GP Compact grip. Be sure to get the smaller panels. You will also need the grip locator dowel and maybe the grip screw and ferrules. :D :D

Correct, the grip panels for the GP100 "compact grip" are simply SP101 panels.

Here they are:

You'll also want the grip screw:

And the grip panel locator pin:

Put it all together on the factory fixed site "compact grip":

And you'll be set.

It's what I put on my 4" GP100 when I want a little easier concealment (I got all the parts from Midway too.)

Also, the full size GP100 grips with panels will also fit your 3", and as well you may want to consider some of the fancy wooden or ivory or pearl SP101 inserts if you want to dress it up a bit.

Good luck. :)

Thanks for all the replies!

If I order the full size grips from the Ruger site, do you know if it will include the screw and everything needed to put them on? Or will I need to order those parts separately? (My revolver came with Hogue grips, and I don't have parts to reuse for the standard grips.)

I'm thinking now I'd like both the full size and compact size grips...after all, I have more than one pair of pants myself, why shouldn't my GP100 have some choices as well?

I got both and they do take different screws because they are different thicknesses. The ferrules are different too but I am not sure if they won't work on either one. :D :D

I don't know if Ruger includes the screw or not, but it's so cheap so I'd go ahead and get that from Midway when you order the other parts.

It is a different screw for the full size grip, it's slightly longer than the compact grip screw.

Edit: Here's the full size grip screw from Midway:

The grip panel locator pin is the same for the full size or compact grip, so you'll only need one.

And when I ordered my compact grip (SP101) panels from Midway, the ferrules were already included and installed.

Not sure if that's the case from Ruger. If not, of course you'd need those.

Good luck!
