Curious if an SR45 can fire out of battery?

Is the Ruger SR45 designed such that it could possibly fire out of battery or would there be some type of mechanical interference if the slide is not fully closed?

Thanks

Anybody?

The reason I ask is to determine whether or not a kaboom was caused by an OOB firing.

Not my pistol, I don't own one, just curious.

Unless the pistol is mechanically defective it should not be capable of firing out of battery. The only way to determine that is by close visual inspection.

Over the years I have seen one semi-auto release the striker prior to the slide being fully locked up, but what happened was the firing pin strike was too light and far off center to ignite the primer.

But to reiterate, the pistol in question would need to be evaluated carefully to see if something has worn or failed and is permitting fire control actuation before achieving full lockup.
