Exploring a new to me caliber.

Blackhawk I to have a 69. It's my Always ( always on me ). I shoot a lot of 800 X with jacketed or 240 Laser cast at 44 special velocity. It's a very nice piece for my use. I don't care about shooting heavy loads anymore. Gave my Redhawk to my oldest boy. The 69 trigger is damn close to as good...

Ruger American in 358 would be neat.

I've done lots of experimenting with the .358 and reloader 10 is awesome with 180's and 200's and 2000 MR is super with the 310 Woodleigh. The 310's really penetrate.

Were There Any 44mag RHs Blued ?

I had a 7.5 in blued until my oldest son decided he wanted it last year. Bought it in mid 80s. Loves cast bullets of any weight I've tried in it.

    M77 price and accuracy opinions

I've owned several 77's. 2 in the tang safety. The rest either mk ll or Hawkeye's. I've loaded for a few friends Rugers. Never used one that was not hunt worthy for the average hunter. I will say on average they didn't group as well as some other makers rifles or were more finicky with loads...

    160 gr Hornady interlock

I was able to test today. Used a 21 in deep cardboard box filled with layers of shredded paper, newsprint and softcover books that were completely saturated with water. The shredded paper is a much softer medium then the other materials. I tested 3 bullet types. 160 Hornady interlock...

    160 gr Hornady interlock

I was able to get on the range today. Velocity of the load I settled on is around 2275 fps which I also feel is about max for this rifle with these bullets and imr 4350. Very accurate load. POI is 1.5 in lower then the 140s at 100 meters. Just need to test expansion. Should be a good close range...

    160 gr Hornady interlock

Loaded up a few to test this wknd if the weather permits. Just got 2 feet of snow and the wind is howling. Had to seat them a bit below OAL because the blunt nose catches the back of the barrel. Shouldn't be an issue with 4350. I can hear the powder when I shake the cases. With a slower powder...

Ruger RH. How Prevalent are FTF Issues? Poll.

I have an old blued RH from around 1985. Absolute workhorse. It's shot every load imaginable and never misfired. Thousands of rounds without a hitch. Now my oldest son puts it through the paces. It's still tight like new.

    160 gr Hornady interlock

You're probably right. I've always looked for good penetration but generally have been using higher velocity so if the bullets held together in the media I was good to go. This compact with a short barrel and high sectional density 6.5s is a different animal. I've done a bit of testing with the...

    160 gr Hornady interlock

Yes I will be checking expansion. My bullets will be here from Midway this week so hopefully I'll test next wknd. Are jugs better for checking the way bullets track. I've always used wet paper with pine boards mixed in for penetration test.

    160 gr Hornady interlock

If velocity is around 2300 fps then at 100 yards it should be around 2000 fps. Farthest shot I've had on deer is about 100 yards. Have never had a deer give me a standing broadside shot. Raking or front to rear and rear to front are common. Thick cover and always no stand hunting so I have to...

    160 gr Hornady interlock

Going to try these in my 260 rem compact. Wondering if anyone has tried them in this rifle. They'll make a great bullet for the ranges I use this rifle for if the velocity is acceptable out of 16.5 in barrel. Thanks.

    Nosler partition reduced load

At normal velocity from 22 to 24 in barrel 300 - 400 yards. I'd not hesitate to shoot a deer at 50 yards with them.

    Nosler partition reduced load

Using up a few 140 gr partition bullets in my 260 compact. Loading them over a charge of imr 4198 and they shoot much better at around 2000 fps then they did with 4350 at 2460 fps. 1/2 in groups at 50 meters. With the 4350 group at 50 meters was around 1 3/4 in. Even at 1/2 in they can't...

    .264 speer hot core

That's a good idea. I normally partial resize and adjust die to give the neck just enough grip on the bullet unless it's a hard recoiling rifle which I haven't loaded for in years. I adjusted die and found it has to size the 260 brass down to the shoulder junction to grip the speer bullets. I...
