Visual impressions of the LCR confirmed

I like the utilitarian finish, light weight, consistent trigger pull, comfort of the grip design when shooting, and the looks of the reverse fluting. The one I fired was DOBA, and I couldn't find much not to like about it. Lightweight, accurate, great trigger, a pleasure to shoot, sounds like a...

    DA Only GP-100

They made lots of them. Our Gander Mountain had probably a dozen of them (used - former police revolvers) a couple years ago. Great guns that can clean up nice (especially stainless ones), and can be converted to SA/DA with a standard hammer.

    RB-22AW Bisley

Glad to find this post. I picked mine about a year ago because it looked unfired, and the price was right. Had no idea that it might be rare.

    Newly acquired Security Six

Sweet revolver! I wish they would have made the GP100 look more like the Security Six, mainly the grips, and barrel rib/front sight. They are sooo classic!

    Ruger Mark II Government Target

Great gun for bullseye!! Good advice from rugerguy. I have a Volquartsen Volthane Thumbrest Target grip, and cheapo BSA red dot on my 5 1/2" MKII, and find it to be a good setup for bullseye. I'll probably go with a Volquartsen Target Trigger at some point, but none of the above is needed to...

Which of these grips would look the best on my GP160?

I've never liked the skinny Hogues for the GP100. For me, the factory rubber w/wood insert is tough to beat for comfort, trigger reach, etc. #3, or possibly #4 I kind of like the dark inserts for a blued gun like yours.

    Small Scatches SS barrel

Is this stainless a satin finish, or is it polished bright? If it's satin (brushed look), try the maroon, or grey pads and go lightly with the "grain". Most automotive, or industrial supply stores should have them, or hardware stores by the sandpaper products as mentioned above.

    Stainless Bearcat question

MSRP is $556.00 on Ruger's website. My local Gallery of Guns dealer shows $414 + tax + shipping (probably another $20), and that's a sale price. I don't think you'd be overpaying.

Advice on a used 10/22 carbine

I'd be interested in seeing pics of what you're talking about. I just can't picture what you're describing, and I've never seen much wear worth mentioning from normal use on a 10/22 bolt. Certainly doesn't sound like a 9 year old gun that went out once, and wasn't cleaned afterward.

    MkII: Improvement in accuracy?

Later model MKII's, and all MKIII's with target adjustable sights were/are drilled & tapped from the factory. I don't think any of the drift adjustable sight models were.

What do you expect from your LGS?

I have complete confidence that my LGS would take care of it. I understand that they would be doing the same thing I would be doing, and if I do it, it leaves fewer variables in the mix. That's all.

What do you expect from your LGS?

I know full well that while my LGS is good to me, he is not, nor does he employ a gunsmith. He is not authorized to repair any firearms per factory warranty. The paperwork is not just static, to do an exchange he would have to essentially buy the gun back from me, fill out another 4473, do...
