So if I understand you, these guns are essentially used samples or customer returns? The refurbishing does not automatically mean that something was wrong with them, just that they could have been slightly used in some way?

Look up Surplus French Leather hosters. I found one for $8 for my MKII 4.75 standard barrel pistol. It is a tight fit, but works really well. It is a flap holster, which might be preferred for hunting.

I guess that depends on what you want to do with it. Having fun hitting tin cans? Hunting small varmits/game? Serious competition? Probably a standard barrel will take care of 90% of what you want to do..... All a question of what feels best in your hand and what you can stand looking at.
