GP100 - screw by the cylinder release

Cheers everybody, it's been ten years, and I just now had to retighten my pivot latch pin! Went searching for the correct term and found this thread. Also in the last decade, retired, got my hip replaced, had a grandchild, and used up a couple cars. :)

What's the difference in a gp100 half lug and redhawk

Bottom line is the Redhawk is a three pound gun versus the 'merely' two and a half pound GP100. It's also correspondingly bulkier. So if you want a carry gun, you want a GP100 (or more likely an SP101 or an LCR), if you want to shoot maximum .357 loads in comfort with wood grips, you want a...

I'm having problems with my new SP101

There was a sign with the red circle-and-bar and a silhouette image where I used to work that clearly meant "No Berettas".

I'm having problems with my new SP101

I bought a Wilson spring kit for my SP101. ((I kinda flipped a coin between that and the Wolff; AFAIK they're comparable.) I installed the lightest set of springs and the improvement was noticeable. I was happy for a month or two, then I bought some brand of ammo (don't remember what, sorry)...

Just wondering...has anyone ever worn out a Six Series Rev?

...though they might sometimes plug up a gas tube or burn out a recoil spring.

    Lee Classic Turret Press

Pretty much exactly what I was gonna say, except I used the auto-index feature from the get-go. And except I have the "Deluxe" turret which is the older, and from what I hear, inferior model -- the "Classic", confusingly, is the newer model.

    Looking for GP100 grip suggestions

You wouldn't know it from their web site--you'd have to call to order them--but Badger makes a wood boot grip for the GP; I found mine on a forum ad. I'm told the newer ones are made with clearance for speedloaders, but mine needed a bunch of sanding for that. Works great now. (And yes I was...

    Q Painting front ramp on GP100 3"

One of the very few imperfections of the 3" GP100 is, it doesn't have the cool easy-change front sight of the 4" & up models. (The fixed rear sight I consider an advantage — it's something I know will never break.)

    Q Painting front ramp on GP100 3"

I've used blaze orange model paint on mine and liked it pretty well, but I was in Walgreen's a month or two ago and found some day-glow yellow-green fingernail polish on sale for $1.99, that I like even better.

    SP 38 or 357

The main reason people say go with .38 Special is the idea that .357 Magnum isn't controllable enough in a small gun. But the SP101 is heavy for a snubby and handles the magnum loads pretty darn well IMHO. If you get the .357 model you can try it yourself and see what works for you. Personally...

    357 In A 2" SP101

I carry max load .357s in my 3" GP100 and my 2.75" SP101. I have the Hogue Monogrip on both and it makes recoil very manageable. Yes, the .357 out of a short barrel is less effective than out of a long barrelled gun (that you won't carry), but it's still a serious step up from any .38 Special...

    Considering a GP 100...

I love my stainless 3" GP. Stainless is awesome. For a carry gun IMHO it's the way to go, 'cause if you do eventually get a little surface rust from leaving it in a sweaty leather holster 24/7, you just buff it out, instead of sending it out to get refinished. Finish? We don't need no...

GP100 - screw by the cylinder release

Yeah, screw it back in. And dleong's advice ain't bad either if you're a little ambitious. Otherwise I'd just give it a teensy drop of LocTite and screw it back in. That's what I did with mine. A guy I know had this screw back all the way out and fall out at a steel match; it caused the...

    SP-101, .357, Grips!

The rubber Hogue Monogrip is way better at absorbing recoil. After one range session with the stock grips I bought the Hogue and it's great. Like Hittman says, the stock grip is more concealable but I carry with the Hogue OK. And now I have an excuse to post this picture again! Here's me...

    ALL REVOLVER?

I'm 58 next month. About six years ago I was at an IDPA match complaining about clearing malfunctions or something with my 1911, and said, "I think I want a revolver." The guy I was talking to said, "Nah, then you look like an old guy." I said, "I am an old guy!"
