The original pic doesn't have much to do with the rear sight. If you look close, I was referring to what appeared to be a horizontal crack and gauge in the frame right at the L curve where the top strap meets the area above the firing pin. But the crack was just a split in the accumulated gunk...
Haha Jimbo, yeah it does look like that. But check out the first pic... I dented the built up crud and it looked like part of the frame. You know you need a brush when you start denting your debris.
I appreciate the responses folks. I thought it was a crack as well, but crud wins the day.
I'll remember to hit that spot well with a brush and keep an eye on the spot. I don't have my tools on me but I rubbed it with some pointy cardboard and a paper towel and cleaned it up a little. Still...
Check out this picture... what is that ruffled area above the firing pin hole? For the life of my I never noticed it before.
I would appreciate your help as I intended to have this one one my hip this week.
Hah, and I thought that divot was a machining error. Mine was all scored up and had the blueing off, so I blued it with some birchwood casey. You learn something every day...
Make sure it is plunger up, and not spring up!
You can test it before screwing the grip frame down by pressing on the latch and seeing if it springs back up.
Shoots like a dream. This is to point of aim but not too far from the target. Groups open up a bit 50' back. Nothing quite like a keith load just under 1000 ft/s. 6th shot was pulled to check for bullet jump. All together function tested through about 40 rounds.
Ready for service now to our...
Passed all my post-assembly bench checks.
Timing is excellent. BC Gap measured at .0065". Endshake measured at .002". Passes service range rod test locked and unlocked. Everything appears good to go. 30 oz trigger spring did not cause any issues with trigger return.
Thanks, Hondo44! I ended up replacing the trigger pivot pin as well the gate detent spring. The result is a much firmer loading gate action. I kind of like it as the way it came was a little anemic in terms of its walk and talk. While in there I also replaced the cylinder latch spring which was...
Mine does that. The issue I have with the current one is that the inner ring where the gate detent is secured in the pin is chewed up and rough, whereas my hammer pin is smooth on the inner ring.
