SR9 owners - preferred OWB holster?

I went through the fever of wanting a good holster. I, too, liked the Mitch Rosen idea on the Ruger website. But I could not afford it. So, I looked at leatherworking websites and youtube and made my own. Then I made others... gifts etc. Then the GP100, the XD45, and more. That's what...

    SR9/SR9c/SR40 Modifications and Accessories

Cleaning the guide rod? Easy... If you have some cleaner, spray some on the rod assembly and then use a brush (toothbrush works) to clean the rod. Spray again and wipe off what you can. Lube the way you prefer and replace. It works, unless you have an uncontrollable compunction to take...

    Back to the trusty P-Gun

P-series Rugers are the best value I know of. Law enforcement and many others consider this a particularly "safe" gun. That, usually, either means redundant safeties or an operational mode that requires deliberation. I enjoyed a P90 for a while, discovering the "safe" operation of the long...

Auto's are better than revolver's. Period!!!!!

Autos jam. Autos are high maintenance. Autos throw brass all over the place: bad for picking up, bad for leaving your ID everywhere. Autos are not as versatile regarding differing loads etc. Autos can't shoot snake loads. On the positive side: Autos have firepower; Autos are a tinkerers...

    Bead Blasted Finish--Opinions

They seem to hold up on good stainless steel, but they scratch and look awful on the aluminum/alloy/super light metals. New lightweight revolvers are UGLY at the LGS with just the handling by prospective customers. But maybe that is the best you can get with crispy alloys...

Bought my 1st used gun 357 gp100 talo

From what we see up here in the Northland, $425 for a WC talo GP100 is quite a deal. We are seeing regular GP100s going up in price from the 450 range early in the year to the 550 to 600 range today, depending on age and condition. New ones are harder to get and used ones are getting as much...

Red Ramp vs Black Sight, again

As of late I have been tinkering with my Redhawk front sight. I ordered a plain black front sight from Midway for under $7. It is the same height as the original. With a little file work the new sight was narrowed a bit with a finer profile at the top of the sight. I blued it and degreased...

blackhawk standard grip vs bisley grip explain the two to me

Bisley vs plow/shovel grip comes up real often. I have had a couple of both and see some difference but not a dogmatic superiority of one over the other. I like the Bisley for the longer grip which works better with a glove (for me), better for two handed grip for hunting, and (for me) one...

    Another bisley grip question

Blackhawk is right... 1000 fps does most jobs, even defense stuff. I think, also, that the 44 with a wadcutter at 800 or 900 fps is a very decent indoors home defense option. Less blast and less penetration. Big Hole for intimidation. Any hear of any reports regarding big bore wadcutters...

    bisley grip vs plow handle

I have had both. The plow handle seems to do what folks say: pop up a bit with recoil. The Bisley, from Ruger, is not a very aggressive Bisley when compared to the artifacts of yesteryear... The barrel still flips up, but less, and recoil is not a huge difference when comparing grips of the...

    Lead buildup-Help!

Similar buildup on my revolver finally came off with a solvent and a GREEN scrubby pad... The blue kind does not work. Also, the copper scrub pad (copper ribbon ball type) has worked. The Copper stuff can be cut and used on an old cleaning brush to get lead out of the bore. It is the best...

    The barrel is rotating

Ruger Service Yep. This is what you hear a lot about Ruger's service. My experience is only with the New Hampshire (revolver) guys. They have amazed me with great service and help. Unlike the deriding and nastiness from another company that markets Brazilian and Spanish made guns, Ruger...

    Ruger Revolver Purchase

I have both. 5.5" RH and 4.2" GP100. If I had S&Ws and was entering the Ruger world now: I would go with the Redhawk now and then go for the GP100 ASAP. Lee Martin has a good point: the versatility, especially for a reloader, is amazing. If the money is not a problem, get both like Kanook says.

    Redhawk sight observation/problem

Don't forget to ask for a shipping pickup. They SO GOOD that they get the item in two days and usually get them back in the UPS in three to four days and back to you in two more. They do very well with "status calls" from the consumer, rather than the insults and derision from foreign makers...

pitted or chipped recoil plate on Redhawk

Yep, I have junked the brass: Remingtons. Also, I will only use Winchester WLP with Winchester brass. Notice how Winchester brass supports the primer right up to the case face and compare to Remingtons which are beveled at the top... Additionally, These Remingtons were from the 180 grain...
