GP100 .38 Special Half Lug question

I've nothing against Ayoob. I took a class of his way back in '89, own many of his books and have been reading his writings since the late 70's. He has talked both sides of using highly customized guns for self defense. He written about custom guns he's used on duty. The man is a gun writer...

GP100 .38 Special Half Lug question

I couldn't disagree more. I would not hesitate to ream the cylinder. Anyone who is that worried about the hypothetical law suits to follow a shooting based on barrel markings should sell their guns and rely on 911 for help. I have more than 25 yrs in Law Enforcement and the only person I've...

My question to a Ruger seller on GB

I have a NYPD approved Speed Six. It came with a spurless hammer and a 3 inch barrel. 3 and 4 were the only barrel lengths offered for the department. All approved Rugers have a star approval stamp on the inside of the crane, I'm confident that there is no star stamp on the gun. Just as a...

    9mm LCR range report

I own a Speed Six in 9mm and had a S&W 940; neither gun would function with out the moon clip. I don't see the 929 being any different.

    9mm LCR range report

Well I got my new LCR 9mm to the range last night. Having had prior experience with a .38 LCR, I knew recoil might be an issue for my arthritic hands. With that in mind I switched out the small Hogue grips for the new ones that come on the 3 inch LCR. My loads were Federal EFMJ, Hornady...

    Ruger LCR 9mm sticking

I had this problem with a S&W 940. It turns out it was the ammo I was using. Swede submachine gun ammo that was too hot. Worked fine with factory fodder.

    GP100 in 38sp.....bore to .357mag?

Boring out is not the correct term. The cylinder simply needs to be reamed. Reaming dies are made just for this and cost about $40. Check with your gunsmith as he may already have the ream. Just like on the Ruger S frames, all the cylinders are the same ie .38, .357, 9mm. It's just how the...

    Grips for LCR

They list as for the LCR/X ...not the LCRx. I might be presumptive but I take that to mean it will fit both models. You are right that is an expensive grip but the Hogue doesn't work for me.

    Grips for LCR

Crimson Trace will be selling a larger laser grip. It's on their sight and reportedly will be available at the end of the month.

Red Ramp front sight for fixed sight 3" GP?

XS Sights makes a tritium white dot front sight that's listed to fit the GP100.

    LCR .38 spl or 9mm?????

The 9 wins. The 9 is a faster round than even the +P. It doesn't shed velocity as much as the .38 out of a 2 inch barrel and due to the short case there are no issues with a short stroke on the ejector rod. I think I'm going to have to buy one.

New LCR 9mm? Better than LCR 38?

I had the .38 and sold it after I fired 20 rounds through it. Too light for my arthritic hands and that grip didn't work for me. I own a S&W 60-12 that was converted to 9mm. It's fitted with Bianchi lightning grips and is a pleasure to shoot. Now that I see Crimson Trace is coming out with a...

    Speed Six in 9x23

Mountain William, forget about the 9mm Speed Six; you can't find a nice one under $600. I sent my .38 cylinder off to TK Customs and he milled it for 9X23. Worked out cheaper than buying and converting a 9mm.

    New 9mm

It looks like it's time to sell my S&W CS9....this is much sleeker. However it's still not as thin as my Colt pocket Nine.

    Poll on SR556

I love it. I have an AR lower and would love to buy just that upper.
