After years of doing just fine with XR3 and XR3-RED gripframes, with an occasional "dragoon" SBH thrown in, I just had to try the Bisley Ruger gripframe when they came out, what with all of the hoopla and such.
No thanks.
It's all subjective, I suspect. But, I don't like the looks (sort of...
Very nice.....you have THE two finest IMO.
Now, all you need to do is save up for the 7.5" BH, because you know you want one. Yes you do, and there's no way you can resist.
The industry has established +P criteria for some cartridges like the .38 SP +P and .257 Roberts +P. Gun manufacturers build guns to house these industry standards. Other "+P" loads have not been established by the industry (.44 special, .45 Colt, etc.) although I wish they would...
If you want a .45 Colt BH, by all means get one. It will probably have slightly tight throats, and this can be meaningful or not. Get the gun, shoot it for awhile. Every gun is different.
I have .45 BHs that shoot just peachy right out of the box. No, a .452" bullet will not push through the...
In the commercial offerings, Hogue makes a SA stock I like. They are a tad thicker at the top than the factory stocks and interesting woods can be had. I like the way they feel on a BH.
DM is right on all counts.
Hunter or slob, you decide which.
Deer can run off for a good ways with vitals in a shambles. If he made "a good hit" with a 41 magnum (exceedingly doubtful), the deer are dead not too far away.
We are talking about handguns here. My experience is not a great as...
Now, just because you CAN don't mean you need make a habit out of it. Your wrists (or thumbs) may remind you on a regular basis when you get older of your transgressions with heavy loads.
There isn't much the basic Keith load won't do in these parts, and it makes a 37 ounce BH stand right up...
Well, beastly ugly they are, but I am not agin'em.
I had a set on my SBH back in the '80s, as did a buddy of mine. This is before the internet and learning that they were to be distained. We shot heavy hand loads mostly, and they worked nicely for taming felt recoil. This was before the...
The loading manuals I have now say standard primers with 2400. My Speer manual specifically states that performance was improved when they developed loads with standard primers and not to use magnum primers.
Again, Keith was right long before everyone else caught on.
Although everyone has a favorite firearm guru or website, I think the best place to compare cartridges is in good reloading manuals. Publishers of manuals have tested extensively with proper equipment and method. For factory loads, see the literature of the company involved and keep your salt...
Since you already reload, I'd get going on the .44 mag. Good luck finding large pistol primers, though.
I'd avoid loading .44 Specials and stick to finding a nice light load in magnum cases. Stay with magnum cases in a magnum chamber. There are a multitude of light loads for your revolver in...
